Inheritance transfer from Canada
Hi all,
Looking for some finance advice.
We're living in Ireland and inheriting circa 80,000CAD from my wifes deceased uncle, a resident of Canada. The executors of the will have informed us that the solicitors on the Canadian side will be sending us a cheque in CAD to Ireland for our total inheritance amount.
We're all good on our Irish tax obligations, understand that fully. My question is around limiting the loss for foreign exchange. My hope was that the executors would work with us to send us the money via OFX, Wise etc. but now seems like a complete non-runner.
What options would we have available to us to try get the money ultimately into our Irish bank account and not pay exorbitant bank exchange rates?
Any suggestions?
