Saving for a first home- how am I doing?

My partner and I (both 31) are living with her parents in the South of England and saving for our first home which is an opportunity we’re extremely grateful and fortunate to have. She’s currently working sporadically as a freelancer due to some health reasons and I’m full-time on 35k. She’s got some decent savings (around 25k all-in) and I (as someone who’s not been great with saving) had nothing until we moved in with her parents. Since doing so in October I’ve been putting away about £1k a month into a LISA which I’m really proud of - my LISA’s currently at £10k so I’m slowly building it up. I have just under £800 of essential expenditure each month covering groceries, commuting costs, phone bill, contents insurance, WiFi contributions etc.

My main question is how am I doing and what savings habits did any first-time buyers out there get into to help the savings process? My partner’s parents are great but we think it’ll probably take another 18 months or so of living with them to be in a good position to look to buy, by which point we’ll be 33 so I’m just curious what worked for other people.

Thanks!
