I, like many got notice from the SSA that I was overpaid in 2025. I was laid off in June of 2024 and received a severance that ended in July of 2025. My first Social Security check was issued on 9/10/2025. Social Security appears to indicate that my severance payments are being considered income and that I owe over 18,000.00. I am submitting a reconsideration form SSA-561 today and hoping for a positive result. Can anyone provide any information on what the possible odds are of having a good outcome?
