CONGRATS ON YOUR A'S - PLS GIVE ADVICE

Hi - I am def a low stat applicant so looking for anyyy advice on how to make the rest of my application stand out + any PS EDITORS PLSSS

Wondering how valuable taking casper or preview would be?

Will be applying to schools all over the country that take my stats- as long as they dont have strong state pref

cGPA: 3.30

sGPA: 3.10

MCAT: 501 but retaking at the end of June - hoping for min 505.

Ethnicity: ORM

Major: Biology

Gap years: 2

Clinical experience: (~ 4600 hrs)

  • Currently working as a medical assistant for a DO (so far 1000 hrs)
  • 2 yrs full time as a CNA at a trauma 1 hospital (3500 hrs)
  • clinic volunteer in Southeast asia ( 70 hrs)
  • Volunteer Scribe/MA in rural/underserved area in US (150 hrs)

Research experience:

  • Research internship with well known collab of healthcare org+university - 1 PUB (600 hrs)

Shadowing experience:

Bariatric surgeon (md) ( 30 hrs)

hospitalist (md) (15 hrs)

No DO shadowing but im hoping working for one as a MA (and essentially scribe+receptionist) takes care of that.**Should I look for a seperate DO to shadow?**

LOR's

strong LOR from the DO I work with

strong LOR form my research mentor

LOR from the nurse practitioner i volunteered with in texas

weak academic LORs (1 from a retired prof who liked me and 1 from a professor who barely remembered me)

IM looking for a PS editor from anyone with strong writing skills +A's...

I did have an editor rework my draft but he basically removed all the emotional appeal out of my writing .. looking for advice on finding a balance betwen professional+emotional... Im really banking on my PS to show that im a strong candidate for DO (not just as a backup w/ my low stats) but because my clinical +personal experience shows how much my values align with DO philosophy.
