Incoming OMS 1’s, how are you feeling?
I’m starting at KCU in a week, mix of excitement and fear. How are you guys feeling?

I don't remember my score and am calling college board tomorrow, but why on EARTH are they asking for this? I took the SAT during COVID w/o studying, went to my state school for undergrad w o submitting. I know I did bad on it. I got a 508 on the mcat and have a 3.9 gpa. i feel like what I did in HS shouldn't matter.
Hello all. I recently received an interview for KCU on 7/1 and scheduled it for 8/13. I am wondering how likely it is to receive an acceptance post interview to KCU? I have a pretty bad mcat so I want to make the most of this interview as idk how many more I will get. Also, how do current students feel about the school? I would love to message a current student and chat. Thanks!
I'm filling out the LECOM (Bradenton FL) secondary/supplemental and it asks me to choose one of the following:
If I select the first option, is that considered binding? In other words, if I'm accepted, would I be fully required to attend LECOM and withdraw applications from other programs I'm hypothetically waiting to hear back from, or is it simply a way to indicate very strong interest? (I am def strongly interested in attending LECOM-Bradenton, I could see myself being open to many different locations and I need to do more research + tour the campus to know 100%)
I'm trying to understand how admissions views the question - is it the same as "early-decision" pathway?
I am starting at LECOM soon, and would like to hear some insight on my intended study workflow and if it is commonly done/feasible! I decided to go with the PBL curriculum (bc I hate lecture...) and didn't realize the first 10 weeks will be 8-5 mandatory lecture.
My plan is to:
I plan to do a similar workflow when PBL starts, but replace 1-3 with the material they supply that can be tested on our exams.
I finished a SMP so I have a good idea of the study style that best suits me: relying on a fast video explanation + thorough anki cards.
Wow. I flopped that SO HARD. None of the questions I prepared were on it.....welp....no acceptance for me
i am planning to take my MCAT early august. originally, the plan was to do an SMP because i have a sub 3.0 GPA. now, i'm thinking of just doing a DIY post-bacc, but waiting on the MCAT score to see what to do.
i heard a lot of people say september and october are still okay to submit primaries for in the DO cycle. i just wanted to ask if that would be too late.
I got an interview invite to LECOM and have been scrambling to find an honest review of the school. I don't want the few to speak for the many, but I am still turned off because of those few posters. If someone could answer a few questions that I have then it would be greatly appreciated.
Is the admin at LECOM-Erie as bad as they say it is, and why?
Are there opportunities, for research, leadership, etc.? And if there are then how plentiful is it?
Could you give any insight to the Learning Pathways they have? Do these actually cater to students?
Finally, what support can I find as a 3rd or 4th year preparing for residency? Does the large network favor match results? Are there paths towards competitive specialties? (I have my eyes on general surgery)
i'm really interested in applying to these schools, but recently, i've been seeing a lot of critiques. is anyone currently in the programs? how are the programs?
Has anyone gotten off the waitlist from DMU in June or July who was originally placed in the first quartile group?
With the average cost of DO schools ranging around ~$60,000 for tuition alone, what are people thinking of doing in order to reduce how much in loans they take out in private? I am applying this year, but this thought keeps looming in my head, stressing me out and making me wonder whether I will do well in med school with such a huge financial burden. Would love to hear how others are feeling
I'm a Canadian premed who didn't get into a Canadian MD school this last cycle. I'm applying to US schools for the first time and just submitted my US DO app. I haven't finished the US MD app, but I wanted to get some opinions before I put time and money into the application.
I have a 502 -> 500 MCAT. Yes, I know, the drop is a red flag to schools and imo the score isn't competitive for any US MD schools as a Canadian. I want to retake to be competitive for Canada (this is my priority). I am a BME major with really strong ECs and have a 3.81 GPA.
I'm currently working full-time, so I paused MCAT studying to do my applications. Now that I'm done, I'm deciding btwn continuing MCAT studying or churning out the US MD apps. My thought process is...what's the point in applying if my MCAT will probably get me rejected. I'm not sure what the process is from the schools' end. If I apply now, will my application just get held until I return a good MCAT score? If it gets held until they receive my MCAT, shouldn't I just wait until then to apply anyway? Since it is on a rolling admissions basis, I don't want to miss the admissions window by delaying my application to September, but also don't see the point in applying if my stats aren't great.
I think it is clear what I'm leaning towards, but I'd really appreciate some insight, whether it be reassurance for fomo from the US MD app lol or a justification for why I should apply.
Edit: I'd also greatly appreciate any insights about my chances for US DO. I applied to the following schools:
AZCOM
KCUCOM
All LECOM campuses
LUCOM
MU-WCOM
MSUCOM
NSUCOM
RVUSOM
RVUCOM
WCUCOM
Western University of Health Sciences
Does anyone have any tips on effective study methods for med school? So far, throughout undergrad, I have relied on rewriting notes and going through PowerPoints, but I’m not sure how sustainable that is for med school due to the sheer content. Any advice on study methods that help?
Hey Anki users,
I recently added multiple choice question generation to Recall Genie.
The idea is pretty simple: upload your notes/slides, generate MCQs, answer them, get immediate right/wrong feedback, and see explanations for why each answer choice is right or wrong.
The part I care about most is the source-linked feedback. The questions point back to the relevant section of your notes/slides, so you can quickly see where the answer came from without scrolling through a long PDF.
You can also adjust:
I’m pretty pro-AI for MCQs specifically because if you write the question yourself, you already know the answer. With AI-generated MCQs, you can test yourself first, then use the feedback to see what you actually need to review again.
Right now it works best for text-based notes/slides and memorization/understanding-style questions. Full diagram/image-heavy PDF support is not added yet because I want to keep quality reliable.
Try it free here: https://www.recall-genie.com/multiple-choice/
Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqbHMyg2kMw
Would love feedback, especially on question quality, source-linked feedback, and explanations for wrong answers.
I am grateful to have received acceptances to medical school. However, I am deciding which school is better to attend.

Hey yall,
I am struggling to find an appropriate reason for the first part of this prompt:
3. Briefly describe the reasons for your campus/site choice and comment on one or two factors that are most important to you in choosing where you wish to pursue your medical education. (Max. 1000 characters)
I'm from the West coast but I have family in the area and was wondering if that is an acceptable reason for a campus choice. Also, for the second part I mentioned residency placement one of the most important factors for me. Just need some help thank!!!
Is there a first aid book equivalent for DO students?
I am looking for something to keep up with level 1 studying during preclinical years.
Thank you !
How did you guys answer this? I keep jumping around between saying family is the reason for this campus but I'm not sure if that is a good reason.

I realized that AACOMAS classified some courses as non-science GPA, when they should have been under science GPA to meet the cutoffs for some schools, I submitted some secondaries already, and just reached out to them for course reclassification, pending approval, would AACOMAS notify the schools of the GPA change or would I have to email the schools?
