Complete unit of a tool reach
I have a water line to run in a die made of 6061. It’s at a 40 degree angle and in doing it on a gun drill. To get a flat surface to set my GD up against in need to spot face a counterbore about 4.5” deep at 1.5” dia. The problem is that my aux spindle that I use to do things like spot face and thread mill is only a few inches away from the main drill head and it’s getting in the way of reaching the work piece. To facilitate this operation I needed a tool setup about 18.5” long. As of right now I have a 1” flat endmill I’m going to use but with a stick out that long I have no idea what type of speed and feed to set for a functional helocoidial program. I know it will need to be slower than my normal 1200rpm and 30ipm but any help would be great.
