How do music producers actually find a stage name that isn’t already taken everywhere? I feel stuck

Hey everyone,

I’m just starting out in music production and trying to get into making beats. I’m still at the beginning learning chords, music theory, chord progressions, sound selection, basically trying to understand everything step by step.

But I’ve hit a problem that I honestly didn’t expect to be this frustrating.

I cannot find a usable artist / stage name.

Every idea I come up with is already taken. And I mean everything if I search it on Genius, there’s already an artist. If it’s not there, the Instagram handle is taken. If not that, then Spotify, YouTube, or some other platform already has it locked.

I’ve tried:

  • Random words I like
  • Translating words into different languages
  • Misspellings and altered spelling (like swapping letters or stylized versions like “PVLACE”)
  • Shortening names
  • Combining words

But it feels like no matter what I try, it’s already in use somewhere.

The closest I got was the word “Wednesday” I really liked it for a few reasons but of course I assumed it would be taken. And yeah… it is. I tried variations like Wenz, Wenzdei, Wensdei, WNZ, etc., and then found out there’s already a well-known DJ named Wenzday, which kind of killed the idea completely for me.

So I’m here asking producers or people who've been in the same situation who’ve already gone through this:

How did you actually pick your name?

Did you just accept that overlaps will happen?

Is there a “smart” way to check and secure a name across platforms?

Or do you just pick something and build it regardless of what already exists?

I don’t want to spend years building a catalogue under a name only to find out later it’s confusing, already established, or worse something that could cause issues down the line.

Any advice or real experiences would be really appreciated.
