GM Infotainment Diagnostic Bulletin (Reset Procedures)
*I do not recommend owners perform steps 2 or 3 without guidance from your trusted dealership service department.
GM has published an updated service bulletin (PIC6540G) covering infotainment systems that freeze or go black on certain 2023-2026 GM vehicles, including Silverado EV and Sierra EV models equipped with certain infotainment configurations.
One interesting detail in the bulletin: GM specifically tells dealers to make owners aware of a steering wheel reset procedure that may recover the infotainment system without needing deeper diagnostics.
For certain radio configurations (IOK, IVD, and IVE), the reset procedure is:
- Put the vehicle in Park
- Press and hold the END CALL button on the steering wheel for 15-30 seconds
- Wait for the center screen to go black
- Release the button and allow the system to reboot
GM says this may correct software anomalies causing frozen or black screens.
The bulletin also outlines additional recovery methods including:
- Pulling the radio fuse for 3 minutes
- Cycling the 12V battery
- Checking for available A11 radio software updates (Dealer Only)
GM uses codes like IOK, IVD, and IVE to identify different infotainment hardware/software configurations.
Owners can usually determine their infotainment RPO by:
- Checking the build sheet/window sticker
- Having a dealer look up the VIN
