Does anyone have a V2home setup installed?

We recently got Solar hooked up and the sales rep said we could "very easily hook up V2home now that all the "rest of the equipment is in place". (yeah, right, LOL. I'll believe it when but...)

We were planning to get battery backup abilities installed, but it was just over $15K to ADD it on to our current install, and that was for 13.5kWh only! I had heard about V2home and thought "If we bought an EV9 (we have and LOVE), or a GM Pickup Max range, we could power the house with EVERYTHING for 1-3 days in a power outage. We've thought about getting a pickup too, and are at a point of looking at buying our next EV (I'm older, so likely a 'forever car') and even tough the prices are $$$$, I thought, Hell, doing just 4 13.5kWh battery packs would cost almost as much as a used Max Range. Plus, we could 'drive it away and charge it up again'.

Any thoughts, input, experiences would be MUCH appreciated! TY in advance.

Battery Drained

I was coming home the other night, in a remote area, with very few charging locations. I was low on battery but had enough to get to a charger station that i have visited several times before, only to find it roped off and shut down when i got there. Long story short, I thought i could make it to the next exit, and charge it there, but the truck ran out of battery halfway there and I had to get towed.

I had them tow me to a charger at first, but the truck did not respond to the charger, presumably because the battery was to low. I ended up getting towed back to my house, and had to jumpstart my 12 v battery just to shift it into neutral. That is where i am currently. Truck sitting in my driveway, battery completely dead. I tried using my level 1 home charger but it is not responding to it.

Anyone have experience with this or know what i can do to get my truck back on the road again? Please spare me the insults regarding the battery being so low in the first place, my wife has given me enough shit already....

Special financing?

I'm kicking myself for missing out on the special financing they were offering a while ago, and with the $7500 credit. I know I'm pretty much asking for somebody to tell the future, but does anybody have any guesses or information on how often Chevy offers it? I'm especially looking for good rates on a used 24/25 model, something along the lines of 1.99/72. Midwest region if that matters too. Thanks!

Home Backup Power Using EcoFlow Delta Pro and V2V charging?

I want to try a home backup setup as spelled out here:

https://www.silveradoevforum.com/threads/home-backup-power-via-the-charging-port

The components are:

  1. GMC Sierra EV
  2. EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3/EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra w/ EcoFlow EV X-Stream Adapter
  3. GMC bidirectional charging cord
  4. Generator transfer switch to panel

The EcoFlow unit is designed to be charged by an electric vehicle charger, and therefore can also be charged using V2V charging (from the chargeport of an EV equipped for V2V charging). I have a 2026 GMC Sierra EV Elevation with Premium Package. The newer models do not come with the correct cord. Therefore, I bought the older white cable off ebay. My question is, is there any way to tell if this can work before I buy the EcoFlow unit? I do not have another EV to test the V2V capability. Has anyone else gotten the V2V to work on a 2026 Elevation w/o 240V bed outlet, using the white cable?

I do not have the 240V bed outlet, therefore I believe I may not have Powerbase? Is that correct? When I click into the battery usage info on the infotainment, I see a section for powerbase usage, but I cannot find anywhere to turn on powerbase. Is Powerbase, and therefore V2V charging, only included if you have to 240V outlet?

ETA: I am readying everywhere that all 2026 Sierra EVs are V2H capable, which should mean that they are V2V capable as well right?

Any recent Canadian sales?

Anyone in Canada (specifically BC) with some current info on how much these are selling for? Do I have any hope of getting a Max range TB or AT4 for $100k? There's also a few 2025 LT Ext with 1.99% financing, (or 10k cash) what sort of discount are on those? There was one advertised for $9500 off in Victoria but it's sold.

I've never bought a vehicle on my own so just looking for as much info as I can get.

Thanks in advance.

Elevation Extended range

Test drove an AT4 the other day and loved it, until we got to the deal about a lease (was told 1300 for 5k down, 12k miles/3 yrs). Didn't want to be at that high for a lease payment. What is everyone else seeing? Should I look at getting an elevated extended instead or does that dealer just suck?

Motorcycle in the bed

Not a lot of information out there about putting a ramp on the MultiPro tailgate other than reading somewhere not to put it on the insert. There is also a YT video putting a 550# adventure bike in the back of a gas truck with the same tailgate.

First time for me so I walked it up from the side since the MultiPro will support 350#. You definitely can’t be trepidatious with 7.5 ft ramps; commit to it or don’t. Longer ramps or a hill/curb/loading platform would make it easier.

2027 Hummer 🦞 EV — Updates

Today marks exactly one year when GMC released the 2026 Model Year update (5/15/2025). Although on paper, minor updates; some much needed improvements such as Rattle on the T-Tops, Infotainment responsiveness and the removal of the start button and the odd deletion (IMO not wanted) of Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a few other minor things like King Crab 🦀 and color interior options.

I have not been able to find anything on the 2027 Model Year, any rumors on when or what minor updates we might see?

Wonder if the Sierra and Silverado will get NACS along the Hummer?

Best Bed Tent/Canopy

I recently got a Sierra EV Elevation and I wanted to know if there are any bed tents out there that take advantage of being able to lay down the back panel of the cab?

2025 vs 2026 reliability

Any data on this yet? I know the battery ranges increases slightly on the 2026s.
I’m trying to decide between a used 25 Denali vs 26 at4.

Also seeing this in its carfax report on the 25.

“Electrical system checked”
“Engine electrical system checked”

Twice less than 3k miles apart.. thoughts?

I heard we're posting motorcycle pictures

Picked up my broken Energica Eva from the shop. I may have dodged a bullet though, because I definitely secured the ramp to the edge of the multi-pro tailgate AND walked it up the ramp, both loading and unloading.

I didn't drop the midgate because it would've been a pain to move the carseat and it was secure in the bed without the extra space.

Frozen screen

I was driving my 25 Sierra Denali EV which I’ve only had for a few weeks when the dash went black and froze with 10 mph on the screen and my infotainment screen froze on the Home Screen. I called OnStar and they couldn’t help but said it showed an error on the WiFi. I called the dealer and had an appointment for the next day. After parking it and putting it on the charger everything went back to normal. Anyone else experience this and should I be worried of something else to come?

Deleted Apple Music accidentally

App was working fine, but it started telling me to sign out. I couldn’t figure out a way to sign out so figured I’d just delete and download from App Store. Welp….you can’t download it from the App Store, even if it was previously pushed to the vehicle. I already called on star and no help. I did the infotainment reset and it didn’t help either. Anyone else have a solution? Thanks

From Lighting Platinum to Denali Edition 1 - Thoughts on both trucks

I recently transitioned from a 2023 Ford Lightning Platinum to a 2024 GMC Sierra EV Edition 1. I figured I'd share my thoughts, likes, and dislikes on both in case anyone was still bouncing between the two.

Purchasing stats:

  • Location - PNW
  • 2023 Lightning Plat - Previously 1 owner, I purchased locally in 2025 with 7k miles for $52,000 - Sold to Carvana for $51,000 even at 15,000 miles.
  • 2024 Sierra Edition 1 - Previously 1 owner, I purchased from GMC dealer in Cali and shipped here to save money. 24k miles, purchased for $61,500 + $2,000 to ship to Oregon. Local prices for the same vehicle were $66,500-69,000.

Reason for switching:

  • Partially just to experience the other full size EV truck offering, but also because we'll be doing more long-distance shows for work, so range and towing became more heavily weighted in our driving. 300 miles range (Lightning Plat) vs. 440 (Edition 1) is not insignificant.

What I like about the Sierra EV more:

  • Range - (440 total) 140+ real extra miles is definitely nice to have
  • Charging - I have only fast charged once with the Sierra at a Rivian network, but saw a 305kW charge rate.
  • Rear steering - the turn radius on this relative to the Lightning is fantastic. Crab walk is a gimmick, but the tighter turn radius is truly helpful.
  • Software/screen - While the footprint of the screen is about the same, the software is much more responsive. Most switches are a half second delay between displays. I could count to 6 seconds going from the Lightning default screen to displaying my radio stations. Overall the software experience and customization of how you can lay out your screens is just better.
  • Physical buttons for temp controls - I know other trims of the Lightning with the smaller screen have this, but the Platinum did not and it was annoying paired with the startup lag of the Lightning.
  • Intelligent temp controls - The Sierra will automatically turn on the cooled seats, or heated seats/wheel depending on outside temp. The Lightning would default to whatever was last used, meaning if I had heated seats when it was 40 degrees in the AM, it would default to turning them on even if temps in the afternoon had risen to 80 degrees.
  • Camera rear view mirror - Nice if you have tint, or objects in the back.
  • SuperCruise - It's smoother than Bluecruise and has more mapped roads. Not sure how it compares to Comma AI though.
  • Precondition battery - While driving you can simply tell it to start prepping the battery for a fast charge without having to nav in a charger destination. Nice if you need to charge but are on a regular route where you're not using nav.
  • Interior (minus seats) - Feels like a bit nicer place to be. The wood trim is nice, and I prefer the darker tones of the Denali. This is subjective for sure.
  • Shifter - No problematic console shifter that can either get stuck (happened once to me) or requires mods to a rotary. A proper column shifter to free up space and simplify. Some Ford engineer was getting paid by the hour when they created the powered console shifter . . .

What I like about the Lighting Plat more:

  • The Frunk - More storage in the Lightning, and the smaller compartment under the big one in the frunk is great for storing the charger, adapters, etc. The Sierra's frunk is still a good size, but not as large, and no secondary compartment which to me is a big miss.
  • Interior storage - Simply more compartments for storage. The center console storage in the Sierra is a little larger, but the secondary glove box and under-seat rear storage is better in the Ford. The mid-gate in the Sierra is cool, but limits your interior storage more when not in use.
  • Front seats/room - The Lightning front seats are more comfortable for us, and go further back, giving you all the leg room in the world. The Sierra is okay, but the Lighting simply gave you the option of more front space if you wanted it.
  • Agility - The Lightning is about 2k lbs lighter, and you feel it. It's more nimble on the road, and drives a bit sportier. Both trucks are fast, but the Lightning feels "light," in comparison, which is odd to say on something that's still 7k lbs. The Lightning also has all of its power on tap at all times, vs. pressing a button for full power in the Sierra.
  • Power tailgate - I find the tailgate of the Sierra to be just okay, but a little awkward to use with it's multi-function design, and the buttons not as responsive. I know the power tailgate of the Lightning was totally not needed, but it was handy to be able to drop and raise from the cab if you forgot to put it up. 1st world problem here.
  • Accessories - Sooooo many more accessories available for the Lightning. Being able to tap into the regular F150 parts economy for aftermarket stuff was great.
  • Style - Subjective, but I like how the Lightning looked more than the Sierra. It just basically looked like a regular truck. I will say I like the Sierra look WAY more than the Silverado, and I don't think the Sierra is ugly, but they definitely leaned into the "futuristic," look with it relative to the Lightning.

Overall both are great EV trucks, and I think anyone would be happy with either. I don't really have a closing statement about one being better than the other. I think people should honestly drive both and choose based on their needs and what type of experience they value.

To say that I'm underwhelmed by Tesla chargers with this truck would be a massive understatement.

Traveling back from CO Springs to the DFW area yesterday, I was looking forward to a fairly quick trip compared to going up a few weeks back. Boy, was I wrong. I used both ABRP and the onboard planner to map out my route. Just 2 stops! Awesome! Both said, 17 minutes for the first stop at a 325kW Tesla charger in Amarillo and a 33 minute charge in Vernon. Also very awesome!

Reality is a much different beast though. It was perfect weather, 70's to 90's and the battery pre-heating wasn't really needed, but it kicked on both times automatically. I arrived at both stations within a few percentage points of what was predicted. The charging throughput completely stunk. Peak charge rate for both of these was around 135 to 140, but that only lasted until just before I hit 20%, then it dropped pretty precipitously down to 100kW. I don't think it's the Tesla charger doing it because the truck indicated it was only asking for a little more than the charger was providing. The 17 minute charge turned into 46. The 33 minute charge turned into 1 hour and 3 minutes.

The only good part of the trip was that I met 2 guys driving a Hummer and we were able to commiserate about the slow charging rates at the stops.

Third screen shot is from an EA charger showing that my truck with an extended range battery, is fully able to get around 300kW peak.

I am thankful that the Tesla network is open to us because there are some areas of that drive where 100kW is still the best you're going to find.

High Voltage System Error

Count me in as affected…second day in the GMC service department and I got the call the battery needs to be replaced. Anyone else that has been through this have an idea how long this will take? They had no loaners.

The Lectron and the GMC adapters look identical, but there is a weight difference between the two so I'm guessing they are not just rebadged from the same manufacturer.
