Bb to A quick change still useful?

I have a couple old horns with a Bb to A quick change valve. I’m just curious if there’s any real reason I shouldn’t use this feature if, for example, i’m busking or at a jam, and somebody calls a tune in E major(concert). Couldn’t I just pull out the quick change and try to play in G instead of F sharp? Is there a good reason not to do that?

Scandinavian novel with flashbacks

I listened to this book as an audiobook while driving with my mom. It was set in a Scandinavian country I believe, and maybe also translated from the language of that country.

An old man moves back to the town he grew up in. Back out to the country from the city. He has a dog and lives in a smaller house, maybe a cabin. A tree falls on his house and his neighbor come to help him with a chainsaw. He thinks the neighbor is older than him, but the neighbor is older than him, but the neighbor recognizes him from childhood and is, in fact, younger.

In the flashbacks the old man remembers what i believe was a ww2 scene. Some nazis are tricked and sabotaged. His father’s friend plays an important roll in this.

His father had some land and logs it at the wrong time of year. His father’s friend is very helpful in this endeavor. Because the logging is ill-conceived and out of season, half the logs sink to the bottom of the river and much of the value of the enterprise is lost. It is then revealed that the father was doing this to make some money to leave his wife with when abandoning his family. The final result is an unimpressive check. In the last scene, the mother takes the son to town and uses half of the money to buy her son a sharp new suit and he swells with pride.

City of new orleans only cancelled some days?

When I try to buy a ticket for Tuesday the option is available, but Monday and Wednesday are cancelled. Is there partial service? I can’t find anything anywhere saying as much, and i hesitate to make travel plans that could get cancelled last minute, but i’d really rather ride the train than take a plane.

Also wondering if it’s not a bad idea to try and get on the borealis from milwaukee to chicago at 5:30 to catch the 10:05 CONO. Amtrak only packages it with the Hiawathas at 11am and 3pm, but i’d really rather not wait 5 hours to switch trains.

Transfer time advice

I’m trying to get from Milwaukee to New Orleans. When I try to book the trip online it wants to put me on the 3pm Hiawatha. Why doesn’t it put me on the 7:30 Hiawatha that should arrive in chicago at 9:05 before i get on the City of New Orleans at 10:05? Do they really think 1 hour isn’t enough margin for error? Would I be a fool to just book the two tickets separately and expect to make it new orleans?
