I will be visiting the OPS site for the first time soon and wanted to ask if there are any free parking spots for employees. If not, I’m curious about how people working there typically get there and minimize their parking/transit fare. I live in Mississauga.
I’m currently an OPSEU employee and am considering moving from my current position to another position under the same job code/band.
I’m still not at the top of the pay range for my current band. If I’m selected for the new position, can I negotiate a higher salary within the same band, or is my salary generally carried over with little/no room for negotiation?

I’m currently working in the OPS as an agency employee under the Excluded category (non-unionized). I recently interviewed with the Justice Cluster(JTS) for a position with the same job code, and I had a few questions for anyone who’s been through the process or works in the cluster.
I’m a Permanent Resident (PR), not a Canadian citizen. Is PR status generally sufficient to successfully complete the security clearance, or are there roles in Justice that require Canadian citizenship?
How long does the security clearance process typically take for Justice?
Since this would be the same job code, but I’m currently not at the top of the pay band, how much room is there to negotiate salary if I receive an offer?
Is it realistic to negotiate up to the maximum of the pay band, or are increases usually more modest?
As I’m currently excluded and don’t pay union dues, what are the typical union fees for OPSEU employees?
Finally, I’d love to hear any feedback about working in the Justice Cluster—work culture, management, work-life balance, opportunities for growth, or anything else you think a new employee should know.
