post op incision progress

got surgery on my birthday this year 7/9/26 (first pic was around 2-3 days post op) and am almost 2 months out now! last pic was a week or so ago after getting my sutures out :)

haven’t even had to take a lot of pain meds, only downside was small blood clots in my lung from getting surgery which i’m only on blood thinners for a few more months as a precaution. and just got my 1 month ct scan done today for my next neuro appointment. all in all, doing much better than i thought i’d be and i’ve had a lot of improvements with the headaches and neck stiffness i had before. it’s definitely sucked but any progress is good.

Authenticity check?

i bought this girl off depop or mercari 3 years ago as she’s always been my dream pet and paid a pretty penny, can anyone tell me if she’s real? if not it’s okay i just want to know if what i paid was worth it lol

16 days post op

finally out of being admitted to the er phase because of multiple issues after surgery. i’ve finished antibiotics for pneumonia but am on blood thinners until january unless any tests clear me in the meantime. i’m feeling a bit better but sleeping still sucks, im feeling really weird about life and how i got here in the past year. i really want to bleach and dye my hair but i don’t know how long until that’s possible again. at least im alive right?

sorry this post is a bit all over, ive been going through a lot of stress on top of this surgery/recovery and i just want a drink since this all made me miss my 21st. i need peace

11 days post op regrets

hi guys, i’m back home after i had to sign an ama form because i was in the er for 3 days and felt gross and just wanted to take meds at home. i had my surgery on the 9th, was in the hospital for 3 days, went home. was home for maybe 2 days and then went to the er because of pain and was admitted till the next day because my heart rate was like 140. was home for a day, went back to the er because i was spitting up blood and had a fever and found out i have pneumonia, blood clots in my lung and a bladder infection all at once. the only reason i got the blood clots is because of my surgery lol and im starting to feel like i shouldn’t have done it. i haven’t been able to even enjoy being home, the hospital isn’t gentle half the time and just results in more pain, and now im on blood thinners for 6 months and cant even do a late celebration for my birthday (which was the 9th when i got surgery). im really feeling hopeless and like nothing will get better, i really should’ve never gotten the surgery.

4 days post op

hi guys! figured i’d leave small updates until the pain isn’t noticeable anymore 😭 the past few days have been hell for sure, staying up with my meds helps take the edge off but i’m so sore everywhere from being in a hospital bed for 4 days straight (from the 9th till like 5pm on the 12th). i’ve just been exhausted and can’t do much, and the hospital said because of my insurance i don’t really have an option to do physical therapy :/. i just hope the pain mostly subsides in the next couple weeks, cause ive been wearing a soft collar to help my neck not have to strain as much doc said for a week but i get scared so i might keep it on longer. can anyone tell me how long it took on average for them to not be in as much pain as their first week was? i already have bad joints due to an autoimmune disease, so if anyone who also has that issue can tell me how their recovery went that would be amazing 😓💜

15 Hours Post Op

hi all! i got my decompression surgery with c1 duraplasty early this morning. woke up after with only sore throat and catheter in (which annoys me because i’m so independent), as well as my piercings until tomorrow. currently 15 hours later the pain is much, much worse. i got a nausea patch before even going in which has been great but the morphine and other meds hasn’t helped much. how long will it take most of this pain to subside? it’s been making me cry because of the pain and i just hate being in bed for so long. any suggestions on how to get some sleep? laying on my back and side sucks with this soft neck brace and i keep waking up every 10-15 minutes. please help!

Decompression surgery anxiety

hello all! i’m new here as i was just recently diagnosed with chiari after issues since august 2025 with headaches, neck pain/stiffness, severe back pain (especially when working from standing for long periods), feet burning from working, etc. i just got back from my appointment with my neurosurgeon and scheduled my surgery for my birthday (july 9th, my 21st) to hopefully get some luck out of the day as i planned to not celebrate this year anyway because of this. my cerebellum tonsils are roughly 20mm/2cm, so decent in length and very big. i asked a lot of questions because of looking at replies here for a couple weeks. he does these surgeries every couple of months, assured me i wont lose a lot of my hair i’ve been growing out for 2 years, and more i probably am forgetting right now. i’ve been terrified of this surgery and being bedridden again for a long time because i also have an autoimmune disease. i’m not sure how to calm myself down before going in, i really don’t want to regret getting this done but i know it will only get worse if i don’t. do you guys have any advice that would make this easier? i’ve never had surgery in my life so it’s making me nervous. i just want my health back.
