Finished engine rebuild

Finally finished my glorious D13B2 rebuild so i can brag it has a 1.81 r/s ratio.

CBR oil heat exchanger fitted and is a bit tight in place for tubing/sensor/oil separator, but its there nonetheless.

Felpro mls gasket and 0.040 shaven off of the cylinder head should get me to 10-10.2 compression (could have sourced a D13B4 instead for starting stock 9.75comp).

Hastings rings, ACL Duraglide bearings.

Cbr600 Denso oil heat exchanger and CBR900 Sc33 carbs.

Denso thermostat. ACL oil pump. The oil filter is a cheaper one, will work for 30 miles before 1st oil change.. then ill use a K&N Gold series or a Mahle OC617. Motul Xcess 5w30 will go in after also.

D16A6 cam. New gaskets and o-rings everywhere where possible. Belts.

Got an Exedy oem replacement clutch and Aisin bearings to go with it.

Got new bushings in for the shifter, removed some slop, but not all. I couldnt take out the bitchpin, so ill address that when the tranny is out and do the diy refurbish.for even more slop removal.

Now, to get the D15 out and this one in. Anxious to spin it to 8-8.5k rpm, i know it doesnt make power up there, but it is something i enjoyed doing in my car's original D13, and something it wouldnt do when i swapped in a D15.

Im hoping it makes 100-110 hp. My goal wasnt to diy something to chase hp numbers, otherwise obviously id start with a different engine series; i wanted a tiny cc high rpm zippy lawnmower.

In the near future i should get an Y7/Y8 or quality adjustable camgear to address the 4.75 degree issue. I do have an adjustable cam gear, but its a 50$ ebay special and i dont wanna risk it breaking on me on some pull.

Lastly.. in a couple of years...maybe get some eletronic solution for the spark...could squeeze a couple hp there maybe.. as is is the oem vac advance distributor.

CBR900 SC44 Oil Heat Exchanger

Some time ago i posted asking if anyone had fit a motorcycle oil heat exchanger on their engine. Got no answer.

After some reading and cross referencing, i thought it will fit, so i bought a 2nd hand Denso oil heat exchanger out of a Cbr900 Sc44, at 32$.

It arrived a while ago, and though i havent yet removed the stock oil filter bolt, it does fit nicely. It is a Denso one, and from other listings on ebay, identical, if not equal, to Accord/Prelude/Civic ones.

I am in the process of rebuilding a block, since my previous one spun a bearing and piston rings were long overdue.

I posted the previous build some time ago, it was a D15 block with A6 cam and Cbr900 Sc33 carbs.

This time around, i bought a D13B2 block, as it was the original engine the car came with and although it has slightly less hp and tq than the D15, its geometry in theory allows a more rev happy ceiling and nature, with less piston speed and thus wear. (rod/stroke 1.80 ratio ). Heck, i drove the 1.3 for 15 years and would take it to 8, 8.5k regularly and never broke or leaked anything... and yes, i know it doesnt make power after 6 or 6.5k rpm.. still its fun.. remember the swift 1.3 gti.

Ill transplant the A6 cam and carbs on it as well, and ordered full gasket kits, exedy clutch, Aisin release bearing, OEM Honda pilot bearing, Hastings rings, ACL Duraglide bearings, will port the OEM Yamada oil pump, Supertech valve stem seals. Hope it lasts as much as the original engine did with no leaks and no problems throughout its 290k km life - it was retired due to accident and breaking the block at the engine mount point.

Bonus picture is the d13b2's PM1G pistons - i read these are hard to find and make a good bump in CR in D15 blocks.
