I’m almost but not yet 18, so I’m not able to open a checking account on my own. Opening a supervised account with my parents wouldn’t otherwise be a problem, except for the fact that my parents are not helping me out whatsoever. I started my first job, my paycheck comes soon, and I’m really stressed out. My employer gave me a packet with one of those payroll cards you can activate, except the card and signup number expired three years ago and as I mentioned, I’m not an adult!
What do I do in this situation?? I plan to tell my manager that the card was expired but either way I can’t use it because I’m not an adult.
I guess I could get paid with paper checks, at least temporarily. Maybe I’m irrationally worried, I’m just scared they’ll fire me because I don’t have a way to accept paychecks and really need this job!
Are there ANY options for a direct deposit program that don’t require you to be 18 that you can apply for remotely? I’m trying to take this into my own hands if my parents won’t but there’s really not a lot I can do financially without them yet.
