*"Bread and roses" is a metaphor meaning that human beings need both material survival (fair wages and food) and a quality of life (dignity, beauty, and joy).
Labor Day Plans? How about coming to our monthly General Meeting on 9/7 at 7pm!
Hear from our Community Defense Committee about the horrific ICE activity and what steps we can take to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe; hear a draft platform from our Electoral Working Group; and learn more about how to get involved the Bread and Roses Bash benefitting Exodus Refugee on September 19.

The July General Meeting of the Bloomington Democratic Socialists of America is next Monday (July 6) at 7pm at First United Church.
This is a great place to learn more about DSA and get plugged into our projects and working groups, including Stonewall Working Group (LGBTQ+ Rights), our Electoral Working Group, Solid State (anti-ICE work), and more!
This town lives and breathes on the University, and the federal funding that supports so much of the work here is about to get decimated.
Vought's OBM just published a set of rules that lets political appointees decide the merits of grants, lets grants be cancelled on a political whim, and reduces the funding for everything from publishing to conferences. It makes science into an arm of the president's personal beliefs.
Pam won't fight this. No one in the administration will. Professors will leave IU. Their labs will close, their students and staff will leave, and Bloomington will shrink. And I don't think it can come back from this.
