Where can I learn how to wire control panels?

Hello,

I apologize if this the wrong sub. I want to get into a PLC Technician role since I already have experience with Allen-Bradley and Ladder Logic, but most jobs I see for PLC-related roles also ask for experience in panel build/wiring and general "hands-on" knowledge with using tools and reading schematics.

As someone who is only familiar with the programming side of things, how do I acquire such skills? I know you guys might say to apply to panel shop jobs but I checked and they seem very demanding with at least 2 years of experience and none of them are willing to train/accept entry level applications.

I am currently located in Toronto, Ontario, and I am wondering if anyone knows a type of program offered by any college that teaches you enough wiring skills to become a technician, without needing to have an Electrician-level of knowledge, so something around 6 months to a year type program.

TLDR: Anyone knows a college-type program just to wire control panels in Ontario?

Need Advice for the General English Assessment (GEA)

Hello,

I need to complete the General English Assessment (GEA) to be able to start most of the communication and elective courses (like COMM 2017) in order to obtain an online diploma from George Brown College that I am currently planning on working on from now.

My question is for anyone who knows about what the GEA encompasses or anyone who has done it before on what to expect, so that my diploma pathway completion goes fast and smoothly. I read that it is very similar to the OSSLT, but the problem is that I never took it during my high school years because it was during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic during my grade 11 year so the TDSB skipped it for all of us at the time, I am feeling a bit nervous on what to expect. I did complete ENG4U in my grade 12 year (albeit my final grade was average from what I can remember). I speak English natively, being my first language of course since I was born and raised here in Ontario Canada, but I do not know if this is enough to ace the GEA, which is why I am writing this post.

If anyone can give me advice on what to expect and how to prepare then I will be very grateful. This will be at the St. James location which will also be my first time there. ----------------------------‐-------------------------‐---------------------------- TLDR: Need as much help as possible to prepare for the General English Assessment (GEA)
