Recommend Me After Dark - July Edition 🍋🍋‍🟩🌶️🔞

Recommend Me After Dark - July Edition 🍋🍋‍🟩🌶️🔞

#This exchange is now closed to new entries, you have two more days to leave your recommendations.

An E-rated review exchange with a twist 😏 You request a specific type of spicy story you want recs for, and then other participants will recommend fics from their own works that match what you're looking for.

Think tropes, vibes or kinks you enjoy. Be specific enough to get good suggestions but not so narrow... Examples:

I’m craving protective/possessive dynamics, dark temptation, morally dubious seduction

I'd love sweet first times or warm, fluffy established-relationship sex

Give me anything with threesomes/moresomes in any combo or "fuck or die" scenarios

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY⤵️

HOW THIS EXCHANGE WORKS:

Join by posting your request – you must request recs before recommending to others. Recommendations from participants who have not posted their own request will be removed.

Keep the space safe and inclusive (Rule 12) – DO NOT list dislikes or "don't wants" or specific fandoms. If your entry breaks these, it will be removed.

You must read and review at least four (4) fics to complete your review requirements. You are not required to read every rec you receive. If by the time the recommendation deadline passes, you still have not been given at least 4 recs, please choose from the recs left under other participants' entries to complete your 4 reviews.

Recommend only one (1) fic per participant – no fic dumps, no linking your entire profile, no essay-length pitches. But you're free to recommend a fitting smut fic of yours to as many requests as you like.

When recommending, please include: Title/Link, Fandom, a very short summary and word count. Tag and spoiler anything triggering (NSFW doesn't need to be spoilered).

Keep in mind Rule 8: Reviews must be genuine and thoughtful, demonstrating real engagement with the fic. We recommend a minimum of 50 words. Concrit (constructive criticism) and mentions of being "fandom blind" or "from Reddit" are opt-in only.

After leaving a comment on AO3/FFN/etc., reply to the author on this thread to let them know. You do not need to reply to the recs you are not reading.

Track your reviews and update your entry – Reviewed: 0/4 or something similar.

Do not delete your entry. If you have any concerns or need an extension, message us via modmail.

DEADLINE TO JOIN (i.e. to post your request): 21st July, 10pm BST (UTC+1)

DEADLINE TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS: 23rd July, 10pm BST (UTC+1)

DEADLINE TO COMPLETE REVIEWS: 28th July, 10pm BST (UTC+1)

Here’s a link to a previous run of this type of exchange, it should help clarify how this works :)

Happy recommending and reviewing! 🔥

WIP Wednesday

It's been a while, so I thought it would be nice to do this again, and find out how your projects are moving along or if you've started anything new!

We all have our open projects, those new chapters or one-shots which aren't quite ready to release into the wild yet. So here is your space to yap about them and let us know what you're working on. Whether it's still at vibes stage, actively in production or coming soon, we want to hear about it.

This is also a space to discuss WIPs with other writers: chat about research, commiserate about editing woes, anything at all really. So come on in, pull up a chair and let us know what goodies you have in store for us.

(As an aside: please remember to spoiler anything nsfw or potentially triggering. Thank you!)

The Cosmo Quiz, Character Edition: How Kinky Are You? 🔥

Remember the nsfw quizzes in women's magazines? I certainly remember gathering around and giggling over them with friends. In honour of the Kinktober 2026 prompts being released on Tumblr I thought our characters might have some fun doing the same!

Leave their answers to the questions in a comment below (A, B, C, or D, for each question) and I’ll reply with the quiz outcome for them. You can also chat with each other about your answers, in character or not as you please!

How Kinky Are You?

Are you a kinky kitten or happy in your shell? Take our quiz and find out just how kinky you are!

1. How would you feel about being tied up, or tying someone else up in the bedroom?

A. That sounds exciting! I'd be down!

B. Maybe, but it'd have to be with the right person.

C. I'd probably rather not, but never say never.

D. Nah, that's not something that sounds appealing.

2. Is there anything you've ever wanted to try in the bedroom that you'd be nervous to mention to a partner?

A. Totally, but actually, I'm not very nervous to say so.

B. Yes, there are so many things! I need to find the right person.

C. There are one or two things, sure.

D. Not really.

3. How would you feel about hooking up with more than 1 person at a time?

A. Bring it on! The more, the merrier.

B. That sounds fun, but I'd have to think about who I'd be comfortable with.

C. I'd give it a try, but I don't think I'd love it.

D. Never, no thanks.

4. Would you ever hook up with someone in the great outdoors?

A. Absolutely! Nature calls, and it feels so free.

B. Maybe, but only if we're sure nobody else is around.

C. That's a scary thought, but also a little intriguing.

D. Nah, I'll keep it to the great indoors, please.

5. Do any of your fantasies involve using toys in the bedroom?

A. Yes! I think toys are a huge turn-on.

B. I like toys sometimes, but not always.

C. I have some toys I’d like to try, so long as it's with someone I trust.

D. Nah. Just our bodies, please.

6. Would you ever send naughty messages to someone you're into?

A. Of course! It's basically the best way to flirt.

B. Maybe, but only if I knew for a fact they'd never be shared with anyone.

C. Naughty messages are only for a long-term partner.

D. Nope. I'd rather flirt in other ways.

7. Do you like the idea of roleplaying in the bedroom?

A. Yes! A little fantasy totally does it for me.

B. Sure, I could get into it—but only if it was a fantasy I was especially into.

C. Maybe. I’ve never considered that before, but it could be fun.

D. No, I would definitely never enjoy that.

Monday Check In

Hello all!

It's the start of another week and so I thought it was a great time to reach out and see how everyone is doing.

As always, life is a mix of good and frustrating. My cricket team (as in the one I play in) won a match we were not expecting to at the weekend, which was great. On the other hand term is coming to an end soon which means keeping track of the timings of a huge number of events and feeling like we're constantly about to forget something important.

Writing wise, I've managed to finish my fest fic (yay!) and now need to return to my novel draft in earnest.

So how are you fairing? 💜

🐉📚 Long Deadline Profile Exchange 🐉📚

Happy Friday everyone, and welcome to the Long Deadline Profile Exchange!

What's the Long Deadline Profile Exchange?

This is a subreddit event where everyone posts their AO3 (or FFN, etc.) profile with some information about the sorts of stories they write. Then, participants look through the available profiles, and read and leave comments on stories (one-shots or a chapter of a longer fic) by authors who catch their fancy. Leaving a kudos would be nice too!

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY is Sunday 5th July, 10pm BST (UTC+1)

DEADLINE FOR COMPLETION is Saturday 11th July, 10pm BST (UTC+1)

Here's a time zone converter for anyone who needs it.

What Are the Rules?

Post your profile link with a short summary of the kinds of stories one might find there (fandom, genre, rating, etc.). Please spoiler anything triggering or NSFW.

Once you enter, you will have to review at least 4 stories/chapters from 4 different profiles (one from each).

Please include in your submission a counter such as, "Reviewed 0/4" so we can keep track of the number of reviews you've done. There's no need to also note which stories or authors you have reviewed.

After you've left a comment, reply to their post on here to let them know. For anyone new, 'K&C' in a reply stands for 'Kudos and Comment'.

Your reviews should be thoughtful. The writer should be able to tell that you read the story. Say what you like about the story. Did something crack you up? Were you brought to tears? Did you have a favourite part? TELL THEM ABOUT IT! At least 50 words per review. ConCrit, stating you are "fandom blind" and/or "from Reddit" are opt-in only.

Please only reply to an individual entry when you've read their fic or if you want to ask a question. Also, please refrain from adding GIFs and images to replies as they are not relevant to whether you've reviewed a fic. We're happy that you're excited about reading, but unfortunately these make it hard for users (and mods!) to navigate the thread.

If possible, it would be awesome if everyone read at least one person who is new to them.

If you enter the exchange, do not delete your entry. You must complete the required reviews for the exchange. Please talk to the mods if something comes up and you have concerns about doing something in a timely manner.

But above all, have fun and happy reading and reviewing!

Welcome everybody to our Pride Month NSFW exchange!

We’ve been celebrating Pride with a month of themed exchanges throughout June. You can check out the full list here

This exchange is for your NSFW LGBTQIA+ works. The intention is for this to be as broad as possible. Whether your fic is vanilla or kinky; if it features pairings, solo adventures, three-,four- or moresomes. All flavours are welcome in this exchange🍦🌶️🍋🍋‍🟩.

You can submit up to two chapters or one-shots. In return you'll need to review two fics by two different authors.

Deadline for entries: 24th June, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

Deadline for reviews: 27th June, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

Your entry should include the usual information: title, link, rating, fandom, word count, summary and any applicable warnings. As this exchange is marked as nsfw you don't need to spoiler sexual content warnings however please do spoiler anything potentially triggering. You’ll also need to include a review counter (e.g. 0/2) to record how many reviews you have given.

As per Rule 8, all reviews must be genuine, thoughtful, and detailed, with a minimum of 50 words about the fic itself per chapter, demonstrating you’ve actually read the agreed portion of the fic. Concrit (constructive criticism) and mentioning that you are “fandom blind” or “from Reddit” are opt-in only. Fanfiction Exchange Yearbook 📖📸💖

In three years our membership has grown to levels we never could have imagined back when this community was brand new. One of the wonderful things about this sub is just how much all of our members are involved in actively creating such an open, supportive and uplifting corner of the internet.

We all know that writing comes with its share of quirks, joys and frustrations too. From fickle muses, to ‘just a quick one-shot’ fics which turn into 100k plus epics, to characters who simply will not behave…So, for this final installment in our week of activities celebrating the sub’s third birthday we therefore invite you to share both the highs and lows with your fellow writers in the Fanfiction Exchange Yearbook!

Find a picture which sums up you and your writerly activities. It can be a meme, a character, a still from your first or favourite fandom, or whatever you want; and post it along with the ‘Most Likely…’ award you would bestow upon yourself. If you’d like to, you can even edit your sub flair to match the award 🫶

Commenting / commiserating on each other's awards is strongly encouraged!

These awards are entirely up to you, but if you want inspiration here are some suggestions (courtesy of the wonderful u/Profession-Automatic):

• Most likely to start a new WIP instead of finishing the old one

• Most likely to turn a one-shot into a series by accident

• Most likely to say “this is just a short scene” before producing 8,000 words

• Most likely to be personally victimised by their own plot bunny

• Most likely to over-research one tiny throwaway detail

• Most likely to start writing domestic fluff and then emotionally stab everyone

• Most likely to adopt a rarepair and live alone on a mountain with it

• Most likely to give a background character an entire tragic backstory

• Most likely to spend three hours choosing the perfect title

• Most likely to have seventeen tabs open for one paragraph

• Most likely to write angst before breakfast

• Most likely to promise a happy ending while looking suspiciously shifty

• Most likely to make readers care deeply about a fandom they’ve never heard of

• Most likely to accidentally invent lore and then have to live with it

• Most likely to be bullied by their characters into changing the plot

• Most likely to write “just a little missing scene” and create an emotional crisis for their characters and readers

• Most likely to have a WIP folder that should legally require supervision

• Most likely to make tea, open the document, and immediately get distracted

Fandom Discoveries

One of the great joys of this sub (to me) is diving into fics fandom blind and discovering not only incredible writers but also some amazing new fandoms and characters.

So in celebration of our third anniversary I thought it would be lovely to give you a chance to gush about those discoveries. Let us know all about them!

Pride Month Exchange: LGBTQIA+ Angst 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🥺😨⛈️

Welcome one and all! It's time for the second of our Pride Month exchanges and the theme of this one is angst!

We’re celebrating Pride with themed exchanges throughout June; you can check out the full list here.

This exchange is for angst in all its forms, no matter the source, so while your characters should be LGBTQIA+ somehow the source of their angst does not have to be related to homophobia or discrimination of any kind (although if it is, that's welcome too!) The intention is for this theme to be as broad as possible so please don't worry whether or not your fic is ‘too angsty’ or ‘not angsty enough’, any ratings and the whole spectrum of angst is welcome here.

You can submit up to two chapters or one-shots. In return you'll need to review two fics by two different authors.

Deadline for entries: 10th June, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

Deadline for reviews: 13th June, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

Your entry should include the usual information: title, link, rating, fandom, word count, summary and any applicable warnings (please spoiler anything nsfw or potentially triggering). You’ll also need to include a review counter (e.g. 0/2) to record how many reviews you have given.

If you want guidance on giving reviews, check out our Review Guidelines and Resources.

Please do not delete your entry once you have joined. If you have any concerns about your participation, questions about the exchange or the reviews you received, please contact us through modmail.

Bring on the angst! 🙌🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️👀

Your Character Pride Parade 🏳️‍🌈

Happy Pride Month sub folks! 🥳🏳️‍🌈

Alongside our celebratory review exchanges I thought this would be a great opportunity for you to introduce us to your characters who are a part of the LGBT+ community.

No matter their identity; whether they are out and proud, closeted, still figuring things out, or somewhere in between, please feel free to introduce them here and let us know a little of their story. Even if your character hasn't come out to the readers yet, if you would like to do that here then you’re welcome to!

Let the Pride Parade begin!

Weekend Check-In 🌞

Hi everyone!

It's been a minute since our last check in and here in the UK we've had some unseasonably hot weather. Luckily for me it's now cooled to a more pleasant level and my brain has started working again. With the kids going back to school for their final term hopefully I can get some writing done!

So how is everyone doing? This is a place to chat about anything at all and catch up with each other 💜

Constructive Feedback Swap - May

Review Exchange: Constructive Feedback Swap

Welcome to another edition of the constructive feedback swap! This exchange is to swap with fellow writers, to ask and answer specific questions about our writing. There's no specific theme to meet, everything is welcome!

If you’d like some suggestions about the kinds of questions you might ask, and/or how to provide constructive feedback, I’ve made this hints, tips and resources document

Rules

  1. Offer up a one shot or individual chapter you would like constructive feedback on.

  2. In your submission state fandom, length, rating, any relevant warnings (please spoiler NSFW and potential triggers) and the questions you are looking to have answered about your work. There’s no maximum number of questions, however please consider the time it will take someone to review your work and answer them constructively.

  3. Look through the thread for someone to swap with. Because of the kind of exchange this is, you don't have to pick something you’ve never commented on before. In fact, if you have already read it, you might find giving the feedback easier. If you offer a swap, the other person can decline for any reason, and they don't need to specify those reasons.

  4. This is important! For all your swaps, agree upfront how the feedback will be provided. This might be in an ao3 comment, by DM on reddit or discord, a shared Google doc created for the purpose, or another mutually agreed method.

If you don't find a swap, then you may consider your obligations under this exchange fulfilled. There are no limits on the number of swaps you can make, however please consider the extra effort which will be required in order to complete your obligations.

Once a swap is agreed please edit your post to state who you are swapping with, and edit again once the constructive feedback has been provided to help me keep track.

For posted works, it would be nice to leave a kudos on the fic if you enjoyed it. A public comment, if you are not providing your feedback that way, is a courtesy rather than a requirement for this exchange. Once you provide the requested constructive feedback in the manner agreed, your obligations have been fulfilled.

Enter and agree swaps by: 15th May 2026, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

Feedback Deadline: 22nd May 2026, 7pm BST (UTC+1)

It's peer learning time! Let's swap some fics and get some constructive feedback on our work!
