i bought this camera as is on a lot, cost like 10$, electronics work, but the aperture blades seem to be stuck closed. is this it? is there any salvation?

Hi everyone,I'm having a persistent issue with my Pentax Auto 110 and could really use some advice from anyone familiar with its internal mechanics.

Here is what’s happening. When I fire the camera, the mirror flips up instantly at normal speed, but it gets completely stuck up there. It does not descend on its own. The shutter button stops responding completely, and the film advance lever locks up and won't budge.

I removed the bottom plate to inspect the mechanism. Before I opened it, the camera did absolutely nothing. After cleaning and lightly lubricating the gears underneath to un-stagnate them, I got some signs of life, but it's still heavily stubborn.

To get the mirror to drop back down, I have to manually manipulate the film advance mechanism from the bottom with my fingers. The advance lever itself remains stiff and stuck. Even when I force the mechanism underneath, the mirror takes anywhere from 10, 15, to 20 minutes to finally go back down. If I don't touch the internal gears manually, it will stay stuck up there forever.

Has anyone encountered this specific issue where the camera freezes mid-cycle like this? Is it likely a problem with dried grease deeper inside the mirror box/shutter cocking assembly, or is it a broken spring? Is this salvageable for a DIY repair, or does it require a complete teardown?

back some time ago, in 2024, i remember i might have downloaded a tweak that deletes the genius button (as it didnt work properly). but now, as i want to find the tweak that removes it, i cant seem to find it anywhere. anyone knows if it has been deleted? any way for me to recover the button? does genius still work in legacy ios's? any tweak to fix genius? (im tired of listening to albums only bcuz im lazy to do long playlists 😭)
