An observation of Species 19937-3

Oh Xyla, how I wish you could see the creatures on this little backwater planet the local inhabitants call "Earth". How they ever survived this brutal environment is beyond me. It will rain liquid water! And it doesn't even melt their skin off! Sometimes they will even have groundshakes of the likes we've never seen on Ishari. They have volcano eruptions, fires, freezes, floods, and the most unbelievable thing to top it all off: their planet has an axis tilt.

The temperature change during one of their years baffles me. How any life could survive this hellish landscape blows my minds. They live in places that plunge to -5000 Blats then shoot up to 10,000 Blats in what they call "hot girl summer". And the gravity, oh the gravity! 97 Flibs. Without my suit and ship I would be crushed, burned, or frozen.

All ten of my hearts go out to these creatures, despite how terrifying I find them. You should see these beings Xyla, 400 baxtars tall, only two walking limbs, and two fighting limbs, but they are a force. They seem especially skilled at creating weapons, and I personally will go to the Supreme Council myself and petition them to blacklist them if they ever even come close to wormhole technology.

Long ago they would kill other being and wear their skin, because the other creatures grew coats. Quite an oddity, it's the first time I've observed this behavior in any of the 19,936 species I've seen. I've even found some still engaging in this practice despite them inventing fabrics that keep them warmer than the skins! Quite barbaric creatures indeed.

Still, after careful research, I've found that 0.001% of the species possesses intelligence. I have already contacted one, but he said he wasn't sure I'm real, and if I was, I should probably leave because of someone called "the government". Whatever that means. Further research is needed.

Their primitive culture has many facets, and the planet is varied. I believe this is a result of the harsh environment and axis tilt. Oh, one more thing, they also have a moon that appears to be an egg? Someone also positioned it so that it appears to be the same size as their sun when seen on the surface. I'm not sure what species did this, and might even be dead, so I will be swinging back to that after my research is concluded here on Earth.

Anyway, I have to go, I brought a test subject in, they possess some of the most unique bacteria in the healed scar from their fetal feeding tube. Send my love to the family, see you soon.

Love

Is it accurate to say that Romans didn't have a concept of "gay" and "straight" and instead had "tops" and "bottoms"?

So I've heard from multiple places that the ancient Romans didn't have the concept of human sexuality as we do in the modern sense. Someone said once that it was more like there was a "fucker" and someone getting "fucked", and that you wanted to be the fucker. The ones taking the D so to say were looked at as weaker and like a woman. (Apparently sexism predates homophobia?) I've always wondered what perspectives actual historians have on the subject.
