I am thinking about renting an apartment in the Bronx. I'd like to know which neighborhoods are good, accessible to supermarket, drug store, etc. Would like nice people and not overly noisy.

I'm looking for a 1 BR in the Bronx and would like to know approximately what people are currently paying for gas and electricity a month (regular months vs. summer months)? The apartment wouldn't be too big and I don't cook a lot.
