I’ve seen hella people saying to email the school with how we think the whole situation is being handled however I haven’t seen something we can copy paste, so I made it! Please email everyone!!! Also apparently there’s an assembly at 1pm on the quad tm (May 9) regarding finals!

Subject: Concern regarding Final Exams Schedule due to Outage

Dear Administration,

I am writing to express concerns shared by many students regarding the possibility of rescheduling final exams following the recent Canvas outage.

Because of the outage, as students we have been severely prevented from accessing our study materials, contents from our lectures, and our assignments. To make matters worse, we’ve lost several days of studying during the most critical and stressful time of the semester. As a result, many of us feel that we have not had the ability to properly prepare for a core part in many of our courses final grade.

Furthermore, it seems that the decision about finals has been very inconsistent between proffesors across the university. Some professors have already chosen to waive the exam, some have simply given a full score, while other courses are waiting on the universities decision to make decisions on what they will do with the exams. These discrepancies are creating concerns about fairness and equal treatment between the student body.

The proposed Sunday scheduling also creates substantial logistical and personal conflicts. Many students arranged travel plans based on their original exam schedule, including travel out of state or internationally. Others may face conflicts with religious observances that traditionally occur on Sundays.

As students, we understand this is truly an extraordinary situation, however, we also believe that the situation should be handled in some way that is fair for all students across all colleges and departments. As students we ask that the university considers alternative solutions that account for the disruption from the outage.
