Cat may have intestinal lymphoma
I’m waiting on results to see if my cat has intestinal lymphoma.
I started noticing a change in her behavior a few months ago. She started following me around more and she just seemed different. I thought it was just her getting older. She started throwing up m, a lot, in April. Brown, foul, nasty stuff. I brought her into the vet 4/13. We did bloodwork and everything came back fine. She lost about 5lbs but least she was weighed was about a year and a half ago and we changed her diet in hopes she would lose weight, so I didn't think much of it. The vet told me to add a different protein to her diet. I did and she stopped after a few days.
The night of 5/11 I realized she wasn't eating as much and hadn't had a BM in two days. I started giving her a laxatone treatment because it seemed like she was just backed up. I realize now, I was ignorantly hopeful. On 5/14 I brought her into a walk in vet. We did x-rays and it showed that she was backed up. She was 9 lbs. I asked the vet if that was normal to loseThey gave her cerenia, fluids and an enema. When I picked her up they said she should have another BM at home.
She didn't. And she also wouldn't urinate. I brought her into the vet again on 5/13. We did bloodwork and x-rays. The bloodwork came back really bad. The x-rays showed her intestines were swollen. She is also anemic. They gave her another enema, fluids, and cerenia and sent me home with medications including steroids.
She ate over the weekend, but it has slowed since to almost a few tiny licks. I am trying all kinds of food to entice her and she turns her head in refusal. She still has not BM on her own. And although her back legs seem very weak, she still goes to the litter box to urinate.
Yesterday the vet said if she doesn't eat, I need to consider hospitalizing her in order to support her so the steroids can work. She also gave me mirataz which I administered to her at 6 last night. I was very hopeful it would work, but maybe it just takes a day or two.
My baby girl still has not eaten. She did walk to my bedroom from her spot in my office. It was so nice to walk up to her in my room again and she is staying close to me.
The idea of hospitalizing her sounds unbearable for both of us but all of this has been unbearable. I can't tell if there is a way back from this or if I am just prolonging the inevitable. The vet says that the goal is to get her eating again normal, but it doesn't seem like I'll get the cat I know back.
