Hi all! I’ve been invited as a plus one to a wedding in northern Italy in early September, and the dress code is “black tie glamorous.” For reference, the couple are American, not Italian. Bridesmaids are wearing sage green.
Normally, I’d interpret this dress code to be darker colors and more “nighttime” silhouettes. But considering the location, time of year, and the bride and her friend’s personal “everyday” style (I usually see them in pastels or light neutrals, and I’ve never seen the bride wear black), I’m (assuming) a majority of guests will also be wearing pastels / lighter colors. I know I don’t necessarily have to choose a dress that fits her personal style, but I’d like to be mindful of her vision.
I’ve found this blue floral dress that I love. Does this feel appropriate for “black tie glamorous”? Also, are the white florals a concern?
Would really appreciate honest opinions! Open to other suggestions as well, ideally looking to stay under $500. Thank you in advance!
Edit: wow! Thank you all for your comments! I did end up purchasing the dress, and luckily I have time to return it and look for something else if it’s not right. The venue appears to be indoors, but I’m not sure if they will be having an outdoor cocktail hour, so I appreciate your mentions of the weight of the fabric in the Italian heat! Luckily the ceremony starts at 5:30 so it won’t be during the warmest part of the day in case anything is outside. Thank you all again! 🥰
