My Stars on Ice Experience (US)

I recently attended Stars on Ice (the US tour). I've enjoyed reading other people's posts and found them helpful so decided to share my experience too.

I arrived a little over an hour before the Stargazer event began and ended up with a seat in the second row. Even if sitting close to the ice isn't a priority for you, I still recommend arriving early in order to watch as much of the warm up as possible. A long line had formed (I was near the front) by the time the doors opened and some of the skaters were already on the ice when I was seated. It was chilly sitting so close to the ice and I was glad I was wearing a sweatshirt and a light jacket. It was warmer during the actual show but I was sitting a little farther back and there were a lot more people in the venue.

The show began a bit later than the listed start time and intermission ran a bit long too.

I visited the merch table right after the Stargazer event ended and there was no line, but I noticed long lines after the show as I left the venue. I didn't leave my seat during intermission so I'm not sure what the lines were like then.

Some people have noted issues with the sound quality of the music during the show but there were no issues at my venue.

Almost all of the skaters/couples had two solo performances and everyone participated in several group numbers so we saw all of the skaters multiple times throughout the show. (There were no guest skaters at the show I attended.)

My favorite solo performances were Jason Brown's Friend Like Me in the first half of the show and Spiegel im Spiegel in the second. The pairing of these programs really highlights his range, both as a skater and as a performer. Everything was gorgeous, from his footwork to his jumps to his spins. No beat or note was wasted. When he skates, he doesn't just move to the music, the music moves through him.

My favorite group performances were Too Darn Hot, I Just Might and Golden. This is the third Stars on Ice show I've been to in the last five years and Too Darn Hot is the best group number I've seen so far.

Overall, I had a good time and I recommend checking out the show if you get the chance.
