LNC Rep, deeply worried about BMA restructuring.
I want to start this by saying that I’m still deeply committed to my colleagues and plan to continue as an LNC member. I know a few of my colleagues around the country have threatened to resign over the restructure within the BMA.
Yesterday, the BMA announced an internal restructure, removing some vital posts (my IRO is one of those being made redundant) that are a necessity for providing support to paying members.
We were told categorically by a member of the council that this restructure would not result in job losses and that we the LNC members would not have to take on more work. We were told that the purpose was to bolster the support that was already being offered to us.
With pay negotiations that have stalled and various other subjective failures, it begs the question, what are we paying for?
Today? It gets even worse. They’re planning on holding a vote of no confidence in the CEO of the BMA. We are being ignored. How will we be taken seriously when our Union is in this much of a mess?
