Wondering if I really need both filters on my unit?

Just wondering if I really should use both filters (green 20x30 and white 20x20 that goes directly into the unit) on my unit or will that hamper how much it can suck into it or not? Some info if it helps, the manufactured house is 1800 sqft. The unit is very close to the doggy door so a fair amount of dust and particles come through. The unit itself is covered by a removable panel for easy access to the filter that goes directly into the unit (pictured). The units specs are provided in case that makes a difference and there is some kind of hose (possibly return?) directly above the internal filter, also pictured. Any questions please ask and i will provide the best I can, Thanks!
