I’m ready to pay and submit my citizenship application for British citizenship.

I just filed my self assessment on 6th of April 2026 and paid 2 days after.

The payment is received by HMRC but isn’t yet used through my tax and insurance contribution for 2025-2026. The money remains as credit and

shows the the payment will be paid on 31st of January 2027.

My SE Tax Overview shows that I still owe that amount of money.

Usually takes some time the payment to be allocated though its liability but is unknown how long it will take.

My question is should I wait until allocation is done and then shows i have nothing to pay or I can apply now?

Will it affect the Good Character requirements?
