Something I've noticed about about Lunchbox Friends
What should have been a song about fake friendship quickly ended up as yet another song putting other women down. Like yes we get it, you hate Kelly, you hate popular girls, now what?
"They want a fat ass in a brand new jeans..."
So you're a feminist who still bodyshame other women right after a song about... bodyshaming? I never understood how this manages to coexist in one album.
"Wanna baby in the back with a man of their dreams..."
Maybe I'm paranoid, but even that, knowing Melanie, who unironically wrote Pacify Her, can be slutshaming. In general, it’s even interesting: on the one hand, we have a song about toxic friendship, and on the other: “You’re all sooo shallow and narrow-minded, but I, I..."
"I don't look like a f**king damn Barbie..."
What was that with her personal GRUDGE (lmao) against Barbie 😭 like girl, we get it, everyone is plastic but you. (By the way, I rewatched K-12 to form my own opinion. Maybe it's not as bad as I remembered? No, guys, it's even worse. At the very beginning, when Crybaby dreams, she sees plastic and cardboard silhouettes around her. Knowing Melanie, this is yet another manifestation of how much she values herself above others. Not Crybaby, but herself, since from the analyses of the plot, I concluded that the K-12 MC was, after all, idealized Melanie, with a bit of Crybaby lore to mask it. Sooo,.you get it, right?? She's THE ONLY real person in her own dream.) And what makes her so different?
"Throw it on TV/People have high expectations of me/Wanna be my best friend, then judge me/If I smoke a lil' weed..."
Oh. So it's a 'poor, popular me' song again. And OF COURSE the weed mentions. She likes weed, guys! Did you all hear? Dw, she'll repeat again... And again. No matter whether it's actually needed or not.
"Photos, more photos/Then gossip 'bout wh**es that they don't know..."
That just concerns me, but I have a feeling that she could say just any other word, but nah, we can't go without slutshaming. If I'm mistaken and it's not that deep, please tell me, but personally, I hated this song the most when I was a fan. Even Class Fight was better, if I only listened to it without looking at the plot. But this was mostly just ridiculous.
