New Sword & Sorcery

There was a time when Sword and Sorcery ruled the fantasy genre. It hasn't been that way in decades, sadly. There are tropes that will not work today and that shouldn't be excused.

I still love it too much to let it stay dead. I'm writing an S&S series. I'm looking for a community and I don't fit into the romantasy heavy reddits. This place feels like the fantasy that I love.

That being said, if the inappropriate aspects were scrubbed, could it still work today? Is there enough of a following remaining for fast-paced, action-packed and gritty fantasy?

Question about rules

Hi all,

I have a question about replying to posts. I read the rules and didn't see anything about replies being held to the same standards as posts.

If we are limited in what we can ask based on length and effort, why are the responses allowed to be so short and low effort? If you're that tired of answering the same questions, why not just pass it over like the rest of us?

I don't think short or snarky answers are appreciated, appropriate or professional. It's expected from unaffiliated people, but I see it a lot from people with awarded flare. What does that really say to new writers? What kind of environment does that nurture?
