Are these dark socket pins burned? (Pretty sure my B650 motherboard just killed my 7800X3D)
Hey everyone,
My PC suddenly died out of nowhere complete instant shutdown with no warning. After digging into it for the past day, I’m starting to think I hit a worst-case scenario.
What my PC does now is: when I click the power button, it lights up and looks like it’s turning on, then shuts itself off after 1 second. The motherboard itself still has RGB lights on, but the system refuses to actually power on. This happened at the beginning before the motherboard completely stopped working, which is when I sent it in for a warranty claim.
Since then, I bought a new motherboard, but the issue stayed exactly the same. I really don’t know if my original motherboard died and took the CPU with it, or if the CPU just died by itself.
I also took some pictures of the CPU and it looked normal to me. (Photos attached)
I’ve isolated everything except the CPU. I tested the system using known working RAM and the behavior was the same. I tested my power supply on another system and it worked fine — powered on with the fan spinning and everything. I even bought a new motherboard (ASUS B850 Plus) to replace my B650, and that still didn’t change anything.
I took a couple pictures of my B650 socket as well (photos attached), and I noticed some dark pins, but I don’t know if that’s bad news or not. Let me know your thoughts.
Do these pins look like confirmed burn/arcing damage to you guys?
Appreciate any advice before I start buying more parts 😅
