Why Do My Heroes Sometimes Heal When They Hit Enemies?

I just started playing the game earlier this week, having fun but sometimes when one of my heroes lands an attack they'll heal at what seems like random. When I check the skills and quirks I don't see an of them say they have a chance to heal, so am I missing something or is this just a thing that can happen in the same vein as getting a crit?

So Something Is Clearly Up With Iruma's Humanity

So there are clear discrepancies between the effects human blood is supposed to have and what we've seen of Iruma's blood, and a concerning number of people seem to think this is simply a plot hole or minor detail despite all the evidence pointing otherwise.

Human blood is supposed to drive demons into frenzy with its scent, and we see this demonstrated clearly by Merize. When she draws a small amount of blood while Henri is up close to her, Henri immediately is overtaken by his instincts. His superior, who is prepared for the effects and wearing a mask, is able to resist the frenzy long enough to apprehend Henri and get them both away while Merize bandaged her wound. During Ameri's birth, the volume of blood and the necessary proximity of the doctors means they needed the Shax family head's ability to take senses to complete the operation. The backup plan for if this fails is for one of the Three Greats to knock everyone out before they go berserk and evacuate them, which implies that even with a high volume of blood a strong enough demon with enough willpower could resist the frenzy for a bit.

Now let's review the times Iruma has drawn blood in the presence of others. The first was to heal the child of Cutthroat Valley's Guardian. This could be handwaved as human blood simply not effecting magical beasts the same as demons despite still bring able to heal and empower them. However, Iruma reunites with his class shortly afterwards, and nobody notices anything despite his wound only being recently bandaged. It could simply be that his perfume also masked the scent of his blood, which would also explain why his minor burns didn't cause anything after execution canonball, and why none of his friends or teachers went berserk when they came to him after he cut himself to heal Shiida. Shiida absorbed most of the fresh blood from the cut while unconscious, so whatever was left was little enough to be masked by the perfume once the wound was bandaged. As for the cut itself, Narnia could simply have been strong enough to resist, and the rest of the border patrol agents were standing back and wearing masks, so in combination with the perfume they probably weren't affected.

So that's the explanation, right? It's because of the perfume. Well, I don't entirely buy that. Because there's a major factor in all of this that makes all of these instances seem far less simple: Sullivan.

As one of the Three Greats, Sullivan definitely knows about the effects of human blood, and yet he insisted on adopting Iruma and sending him to school anyway, despite many activities having the potential to shed blood. Sure, the perfume can probably cover small cuts, but how could he be certain a bigger injury wouldn't occur? If he just wanted a grandchild, why risk adopting a human, and why Iruma in particular? When Opera questioned him about this, he handwaved it away by saying "things that are harder to take care of are cuter," but we never got a real answer from him. He didn't seem surprised when Iruma obtained the Ring of Gluttony from the flight exam, and in fact seemed to be ready for it. I fully believe Sully knows more than he lets on, and that he was only pretending to oblivious about Ali. Furthermore, despite the risk of exposing Iruma and the consequences he would face for it, he brings Iruma to the 13's dinner and nominates him as a candidate for demon king. If Sullivan just wanted grandson, there'd be no reason to push him towards Netherworld politics, especially if Iruma was truly just a random human he adopted on a whim.

Sullivan's strange behavior, combined with the discrepancies with Iruma's blood, lead me to believe something more is going on with Iruma. Maybe Nishi-sensei genuinely just forgot how to write a story and these threads all end up going nowhere, but there's too many of them and they feel far too connected for me to even consider that to be the case. I think that in the coming chapters we're going to see whatever Sullivan is planning come to fruition.

Buildng an IruKiri Playlist

I'm not a particularly big fan of this ship (I do like it but I'm much more invested in the Love Trio and Amerie), but I've had a couple of songs that fit it really well running through my head lately and thought I'd try building a playlist (I don't have spotify so I'd probably make it on youtube). I only have a few songs so far and would be happy to take suggestions for more.

  1. "Butcher's Vanity" by Flavor Foley

It's the cannibalism song. Not much else to say about this.

  1. "Red Means I Love You" by Madds Buckley

It's a Yandere love song. Again, not much else to say because I'm not very creative.

  1. "No Children" by The Mountain Goats

This one is for the Mafia AU in particular. It works well enough as a whole but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't including it mainly for THAT part. You know which one, it's the part of the song everyone knows. THAT part is what REALLY fits Mafia Irukiri

  1. "Red Flags" by Tom Cardy

This came to me as I was just writing this post and I thought it was funny so on it goes. Also all the other songs I have so far mainly fit Kirio's pov so I had to get at least one for Iruma's... even if it isn't exactly a very serious one lol

The way the panel is angled and his mouth being covered make it look almost as if Iruma is kissing their hands

I am convinced this was intentional art direction and it makes me unwell. I need to talk about this

Which Translation Of This Sukima Do You Prefer?

I don't know Japanese so I can't say which is more accurate, but I'm biased towards the Kodansha translation because I like seeing Opera be Rude

It's funny that despite being more empathetic in motivation, Mafia Kirio is somehow more of a freak than main series Kirio

Marked NSFW for suicide mention, not the homoerotic undertones lol

Does anybody have a collection Eiko's appearances in the anime and/or manga?

I'm trying to see if anyone has compiled all her screen/panel time yet, and if not I'm trying to get that to happen.
