FlowECU v1.5 – Explorer, Map Creation & Tune Summary Updates

Been working on FlowECU again and finally getting the Explorer side to a point where it’s becoming genuinely useful rather than just experimental.

A lot of work recently has gone into:

  • BIN/ROM exploration
  • heatmap visualization
  • linked map overlays
  • 2D previews
  • profile/pattern bars
  • continuous ROM browsing
  • manual map creation directly from selected BIN regions

You can now highlight regions inside the ROM and build your own map definitions with dimensions, scaling, endian/signed settings, units, categories etc, then export them back out to JSON for reuse later.

Still using A2L and CSV as the stable import paths for now while I work through OLS/KP parsing properly. OLS support is proving to be a bit painful because of the amount of variation and edge cases in files floating around.

Also spent a lot of time improving stability and usability lately:

  • better tune summaries
  • before/after change reporting
  • linked map viewing
  • improved preview detection
  • less table rebuilding/repainting
  • faster explorer navigation
  • new export/save-based trial system instead of time-based

The overall goal with FlowECU is basically to make ECU binaries easier to understand and work with instead of just staring at raw hex trying to guess what’s going on.

Still early and still lots to improve, but it’s finally starting to feel like a proper workflow instead of a collection of separate tools.
