Skill is the ceiling for good performance - not choreo.

Got some harsh opinions

  1. New gen idols are not capable as older gen is not always true. Sometimes people are only looking at the viral groups and songs to form this opinion. The choice of music enjoyed by the audience has changed and most people in industry are trying to keep up with what the public enjoys to pay the bills .

  2. If trained well then it is possible to give decent performances with singing and good choreo. If an idol cannot manage both then it is not the fault of the entire choreography- that is the limit of the idol . They are just not talented enough or they have not trained long enough. Some choreos cannot be used for live singing , some choreos can be used for most live singing but if your idol needs a lipsync to dance every single time - then that is a skill issue.

  3. I added a recent live singing clip here and This is not me glaze the group but just an example.

Selling fashion and owning it makes a difference

I see fans congratulate idols for their fashion brand endorsement all the time. I do too but sometimes they don't suit what the brand represents at all. If they weren't my faves, i would not even pretend to be pleased with the decisions these brands make.

Among the many groups i follow casually and the ones i stan , i have only ever seen a handful of idols actually fit in to the brand or add value to it. So it actually gives me second hand embarrassment when some fans post their idol outdid the model or sold out in minutes or hours. Because some sales are purely blind fan devotion. I dont think people who dont know some of these idols are gonna like some products. Infact , i have even felt at times that some idol images clashed so bad with the brand that i started to lower standards for them.

I get that everyone wants all members to have some brand affiliation for fairness but i also feel it is valid that some members get picked more often than others in general.

It is not always a good looking or talented member that suits the brand. For example , this one guy who posed for a clothing brand had the product sellout , i saw the photo and thought to myself " wow look at him, what a buff body , probably works out a lot, what a face so refreshing , i wonder what products he used. Should i hit gym too ? Wait how old is he and why does he look so young ? ..... All the random stuff but the clothes never interested me. It didn't make me think - i should buy the same or the fit is insane. Nothing. I wondered what his abs would look like beneath the cloth instead. That sale happened purely based on his fandom power. He can dress in something else and I wouldn't notice the vibe changed. The clothes added nothing to his personality or reflected any feelings at all.

Then there are other idols that own the image of the brand - they look good and more importantly they make the cloth look better. I would wonder how trashy it looked in pics before someone wore it. All my attention is on the dress , questioning will i ever be able to pull off this look. I find myself searching what accessories they added to create this look, which colours they used in other pieces, which handbag would have looked better with the dress. Even if i dont plan to buy it , my mind would still remember the dress. Next time i see the brand , i will be looking forward to it. Not everyone can be that person whose appearance makes people think about the brand.

So some idols are better off without being on vogue covers until they find some brand that fits their image. Some of the barely debuted one are simply on the cover because of the company pushing the brand for prestige not even selling power. Crying over injustice to fellow members or favouritism allegations is pointless at times. If the member is not the most popular then he should be able to fit the brand to sell or else only the ones that have selling power will get more endorsements.

Setting aside the brand looking for the star with selling power, even the idol needs to be able to pick a good brand that fits with the image of the group or their individual public persona . There are only a handful of idols on ads that look like they are promoting something good instead of looking like they got paid to promote and are held at gun point.

a hip hop or rap based group always get most hate in every gen

Gen 2 - bigbang

Gen 3 - bts , blackpink

Gen 4 - stray kids

Gen 5- cortis

I dont know about gen 1 but it is a fun theory. They are also coincidentally the most popular and also most influenced by black hip hop culture. Why is it that hip hop based group dominate every gen.

Least problematic or most well liked fandom are often more vocal based groups

Gen 2 - shinee

Gen 3 - seventeen

Gen 4 - txt

Gen 5- .... Under evaluation

Does the music taste reflect in fandom behaviour too ?? Or does too much hip hop influence without context gets them into racist territory or controversial lyrics.

Are all the hate caused by popularity or do some of the musical influences also contribute to the hate.

You rarely have vocalists blaming external sources for their issues in their song lyrics, most are self reflective and introspective. While rap songs have more lyrics that question and rebel against the outside world. A little confrontational or argumentative unlike vocalists whose lyrics are mostly resigned sad songs or cheerful motivational dreams. Never confrontational.

Current perception of each company for me

Yg - most rap and hip hop coded music. It peaked at an era and Sometimes it sounds like it is still stuck in an older era.

Hybe- max suited to the western audience and fastest to follow a trend . If something is all over the socials - it is probably a hybe group song.

Sm- most groups have either trendy or futuristic tracks. unreal vocals or unreal sounding production .

Jyp- most random experimental music and even new niche genres- mix pop, mala pop, band pop, pansoori pop. It is never trendy - either too late or too early for people.
