Thoughts on Spectrum Mobile
So I have been a long-time customer of Spectrum, as it is the only cable internet in my area. Four years ago, I tried Spectrum during the free promotional period. I was not satisfied with the phone or the service. I mailed back the device and cancelled service. I have been fighting this $68.99 Spectrum Mobile debt for the last two years or so. I have explained this several times. It was all returned within the time period. I used it less than five times to make calls. Fast forward to today, and I was told that there are no statements. I was advised that I would need a court order to have the Department of Collections produce a statement due to the age of the account. I am sorry, what? That is not even worth my time or effort. I am blown away that no attempt was made to explain what it was for and how there is a debt when it was a free promotional period. I get told you must pay this debt.
I currently have two mobile lines with Cricket Wireless, one of which I can BYOD, and the other cannot because it is not a dual SIM. I will not buy or receive another cell device from Spectrum Mobile. I would save money switching, but to pay an outstanding balance that cannot be proven to be owed when the device and account had been cancelled. Seems unfair, and extremely shady business practices.
Why would I be a willing customer to come to Spectrum Mobile with my own device, subject to these types of unfair business practices, with a history of risky business maneuvers? Is this truly how Spectrum conducts business now? No wonder why they have so many unhappy customers. I also see that in fine print that you must have Auto Pay enabled for the current promotion.
I am just tired of gripping the ankles a bit more each day due to the wonderful economy and greedy companies.
