Extra $25 charge almost every month with no explanation

Extra $25 charge almost every month with no explanation

I noticed today that I had a $25 charge from spectrum on a day I'm not typically billed and when I searched Spectrum in my bank transactions, it turns out they have billed me an extra $25 almost every month, adding up to $300. I was never notified about these charges and when I called they told me I had no history of late or returned payments which would cause a $25 fee. They basically said it wasn't them charging me and to call my bank. Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do? I'm worried my bank can't do anything as these charges go back over a year. It says these payments are going to Spectrum but all they said on the phone was that it isn't them. (I'm in California if it matters)

Any sales rep able to help me out?

A sales rep reached out to me a couple years ago for me to get the $40/month deal and was wondering if anybody could help me get it again as it’s expiring next month?

Spectrum Complete Outage Day 3

Spectrum hasn't given a reason, no ETA for return of service. They won't engage in any way. My job is full remote and I don't know that I will be able to work tomorrow. Anyone else in 13035 zip code have the same? I am wondering how localized this is.

Modem

To starts off there was a storm Wednesday and an outage shortly after. I have already called. I did that 2 days later and it was pretty much wait until the outage is gone then try again.

I finally got the outage over txt on Saturday while not home and I even checked the app to see if the message was also gone there, just to get home later and it’s still out and the outage notification for my area is back in the app.

The entire time the leds on the front of the modem have been solid blue. To me, that indicates connection. The lights on the Ethernet port have been even when a cable is not plugged in. The data activity light is blinking in a very specific pattern and that seems weird. I did mention this the rep on the phone.

Yes, I will call again but since there is apparently another outage in my area it seems pointless at the moment.

My main point of this post is, has anyone else’s modem done this even without the cable plugged in or is this a thing it’s always done and I just never noticed? From reading it seems the top light signifies speed and the bottom activity but if not cable then should either of these lights be on?

Edit: Thank you everyone. Contacting a tech and getting the modem replaced will be my next step.

Tampa Outage

Anyone still out in Tampa? I just got this service on Monday and my internet has been out since 6:30 July 4! I have never experienced an internet outage at all and wasn’t expecting this long of a delay. Is this the usual for Spectrum?

A visual explanation of why your Spectrum "Advanced Home Wi-Fi" might be acting up.

For those who might be wondering why their wifi 2.4 GHz bands are slow, here is what the stock router auto-channeling is doing in my neighborhood.

We have five separate Spectrum gateways fighting an absolute war on Channel 1, alongside a rogue router killing the spectrum on Channel 2. Meanwhile, the massive 5 GHz band has wide open, pristine space that the auto-channeling algorithm completely failed to optimize for.

Why is Spectrum's stock router firmware bad at dynamic channel allocation?

I guess It's no wonder why I have to hear my neighbors complain about their wifi all their time even when I tell them switching ISPs isn't going to help.

Low hanging wire, call Spectrum again or the local electric co?

I'll keep this as short as I can. A few years back I noticed a low hanging cable. Just about down to the ground, just on the other side of my fence, over the neighboring property. I called Spectrum about it a few times but they wouldn't come out since I wouldn't be home. As this isn't on my property, there's no reason for me to have to be there, I told them they could go in the backyard and, on top of all that, they'd need to the repairs from the other property anyways. But they wouldn't budge so I didn't worry about it. Not my wire, not my property, I just happened to see it and called it in.

Fast forward to March of this year. I'm making plans to replace the fence under that wire and I'm having a bunch of trees cut down. I'd like to get this wire out of the workers' way so they don't rip it down by accident. When I called about it and they set up a time for a tech to come out, but it was at a time when I wouldn't be home. This time the rep said that's fine, there's no reason for me to need to be there anyways. JFC. Anyways...

3/29: Tech came out and said it's a temporary line and he'd make a work order to get it fixed.

4/25: I called to check on the status and was told there's an open work order to fix it.

6/7: I called again and they said the work order was closed, the agent made a new one and said a tech would be out the next day to fix it.

6/8: Tech came out, looked at it, told me it was a temporary line and his supervisor would call me. Also, he opened up the box on my house and left it taken apart. (Note: I know Spectrum has a rule that they have to check signals whenever they're out at a house, but, again, this wire isn't on my property, I'm just the one calling about it)

6/9: I never heard from his supervisor so I called to see what's going on and to ask them to send someone out to put the box back together.

6/10: Field supervisor came out, fixed the box and said she'd make some calls and get back to me about the wire.

6/16: Spectrum contacted me to see if it was resolved, I told them I never heard back from the supervisor, so they said they'd escalate the issue and I should expect a call from someone. Later that day I got a call from the 'executive office', saying they'd have someone call me. Even later that day, I got a call from the director of construction for Spectrum in my area. He told me someone would be out later that day to look at the wire and he expected it to be fixed within a week.

That's the last I heard from anyone.

Today I sent them an 'update' via facebook messenger, where some of these conversations have been taking place. They said they'd let the appropriate team know and someone would get back to me. I wrote back:

"This is getting to be a lot work on my part for a wire that's not even on my property. I'm having to deal with field supervisors, the executive office, the director of construction, I've taken time off of work, I've made and received probably a dozen phone calls. I've been trying to get this resolved for years. Is there a reason someone can't just come out and take care of it? At this point I think it'll be faster to call [local utility company] and have them come out and fix it"

And that's what's really bugging me here. In my opinion, this should've been taken care after the initial call I made years ago, or even after after I made that call in March. I truly don't understand why I need to be so involved in this process.

So, keep nagging spectrum about it? Call the local utility company? Ignore it and hope the tree and fence guys are able to work around it?

Is 100mbps enough? (Upselling)

Not sure if this is the best sub to ask this on but I am trying to set up service for a new home. I called to get the cheapest plan (100mbps for $30) but the rep kept trying to upsell me and told me this isn’t reliable. It’s just me and one other person living in this house and the most demanding this we do is stream a show while Googling something at the same time (crazy, I know). Is he right or just trying to push for a higher sale?
Edit: thank you for all the replies!! I feel good about my choice now and can confidently shut down any upselling attempts haha

Is this 100% fiber?

Greetings. I’m moving into a new neighborhood where my friend currently lives. They sent me this photo of their equipment. Correct me if I’m wrong but this means it’s 100% fiber vice “fiber powered internet,” since the fiber is in the house?

Just looking to confirm before booking appointment.

7 Gig Fiber

To complement the WiFi Speedtest yesterday. Will be upgrading my UDM Pro to the Cloud Gateway Fiber as the UDM Pro seems to not handle it very well. Speed directly connected to the ONU

Can anyone explain this?

So I have 1 Gig Internet and have been experiencing some rather weird things when it comes to my PC.

Now, at first, when I got this new internet and tested it on my PC, JUST FINE. No issues, no complaints, no slowdown, nothing. It's been around 6 months since I've had it and... now my PC has been extremely weird around it.

It's slowed down from its 200+ MB speed to under if not less than 75 mb and causes major ping spikes when I try to play a game, and Firefox to say something went wrong with the connection.

More odd enough, my phone can run the internet JUST FINE. No slowdown, no problems, nothing.

So can someone explain what's going on and what I should do to fix this?

I just called to cancel and they didn't even try to save me!

I was transferred to retention and the guy just asked for my address and cancelled my account. The call was probably 3 minutes long.

The best service I've ever had from Spectrum! Ordering Verizon Wireless Home asap

High split question

As of early last month it as been confirmed that the psychical work for my area has been completed for high split but still no estimated date of activation. On average how long does it take for them to flip the switch and enable it?
