First post in this subreddit, but all my friends are his mutuals so I don’t really have anyone to ask for advice.
Basically I have the biggest exam of my uni year on Monday and because I study a medical subject I need to “practice” on someone (it’s a practical exam).
My (21f)boyfriend (25m) who I live with recently got a part time job (6pm-midnight bar hours) and it’s his first shifts this weekend (Fri/sat). He likes to play video games in his spare time (3-5 hours per night most nights) when I’ve been revising.
I just asked him if around his shifts at work, if he minds having the weekend off the game to help me revise for my exams, and to help me chill / relax and general emotional support the night before. I know it’s his first few shifts at the new place (he has over 5 years bar experience) so I said I know it’s a bit inconvenient but this is a huge deal for me. He has finished his academic year so has no more exams and finds uni relatively easy. Whereas this is the second leg of the biggest and most difficult exam of the year for me / has caused me the most stress / I’ve worked the hardest for.
He got annoyed and had a tone, and said “well it’s just fuck you to whatever I want to do then”.
I diddnt retaliate and I asked politely. He’s seen how I’ve been studying 6+ hours a day for this exam the past 2 weeks and he’s gamed every day (I don’t think it’s a problem while I’ve been studying, so that’s fair enough) and I don’t really understand how he’s not okay with having one weekend off to help me prepare for the exam. He’s also been kinda annoyed recently when I’ve asked him to come off the game at 11pm/12am so we can go to bed, or to help me with things.
AITAH for thinking this is wrong?
TLDR : AITAH for thinking it’s wrong that boyfriend dosnt want to take the weekend off gaming (he does it daily) to help me prepare for my final and biggest exam on Monday, around his bar shifts.
Edit: I’ll add this makes me feel quite sad/let down and unsupported when I try my best / make a lot of sacrifices to support him in his goals :/ & my degree/ career is my biggest goal.
Edit 2: also added our ages for context
