I need help here. My laptop (Haier Thunderobot T-book 15A)'s WiFi function disappeared. It disappeared around April 15 in the afternoon. I don't know if I touched something on the laptop's underside, but for some reason the WiFi disappeared. I just don't know what happened. I already noticed this at some point that my WiFi option appears or not. I remember installing some kind of VPN before, I wonder if this contributed to the disappearance of the WiFi.
I tried everything, such as:
- restart the laptop
- uninstalled the driver, then restart the laptop (the WiFi driver is a Realtek)
- start WLAN AutoConfig (can't, error 1068)
- bought a WiFi USB adapter (WiFi option still doesn't appear)
- Ethernet cable with a USB adapter (still no Internet, driver installed but I'm experiencing DNS issues)
- updated the laptop (laptop hasn't updated since February/March-ish due to low storage) (can't update because of an error on the FIRST_BOOT during the SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation) (I already used a USB media installation by mounting an ISO to a USB using Rufus). Because my laptop failed to update, it would tell me to activate it.
- can't reset (again, no WiFi function)
- sfc /scannow (stops midway)
- dism thing (again, stops midway)
- Tried to open my laptop's underside to check the WiFi card but the problem is, that I have to deal with two stripped screws that I can't screw out (I opened my laptop's underside before so I could inspect my SSD). I have no tools to extract those damaged screws. I have a drill but it's too big and heavy.
I already took this to a professional to inspect why. He told me to reset it. The thing is, I don't know what actually my problem is. Was my problem a:
- dead WiFi card?
- WiFi card not properly seated/wires disconnected?
- Outdated drivers/system?
- Accidentally uninstalled a network driver but don't know which?
Please help me. I'm at a loss here. I have this laptop for nearly two years and I don't want to buy another.
