Hey, I finally completed OFH + water neck and sealings on intake on 530ix (2017). For anyone foolish like me that starts to take engine apart in front of flat with no lift. Be prepaired for 4th bolt (right bottom) which took me 5 DAYS or trying to unscrew it and then 1 day to put the new one back. On YouTube and guides it looks super easy, reality is much worse but after so much time there I found its possible to put left Hand Under OFH and reach for the bolt with finger. At the same time using 1/4" with E10 in right hand try to guide the socket/extension to the bolt with your left hand. Its nearly impossible to do it just by blind trying and removing Trans cooler sucks too. Good luck!
Hi, this weekend I wanted to change oil filter housing + cooler on my B48 530ix tuned up to 300ps/550nm. Old plastic crap was leaking. Im quite experienced dyi guy, did study guides before and I gotta warn fearless guys like me😁 its such pain in... Dont be expected if it will take you 2+ days, be patent - worst part is disconnect everything without breaking stuff (DME and coolant clips mainly). Dont use ramps as me, car wont be high enough to move free below car 😰 beware trunk locking with battery off (happened to me on unlocked car.
Check your equipment, there is like E7 socket needed and more specific sockets.
Start by draining oil + coolant (both tanks), get as much coolant out as possible, otherwise you will get coolant shower on your face like me today:)
Get blower/compressed air, blow whole engine bay before you start. After you remove intake - vacuum the intake valves and space around. Then heavy fill any holes in engine.
Check O ring on coolant hoses, if its missing - its stuck somewhere else. Find it, throw away, replace with new o rong.
Clean all sealings and sealing points. Super important. Putting Tiny amount of fresh oil on new gaskets can help.
PUT A LOT OF PASTEBORD BELOW CAR . There will be coolant everywhere and its almost impossible to clean the parking place then.
Dont lost hope, if you already remove DME + intake manifold, then you can handle rest easily:)
Depending on your mileage, consider intake manifold cleaning,.wallnut blasting or other ways to clean intake manifold. Check all your leaking coolant hoses, expect the worst and if you can return unused part later, then get all hoses + sealings to be 100% prepaired.
Consider your skill, working equipment, patience and time before you start this DIY. I know repair is expensive, parts not but now.I understand it 😁 Without service lifter its super uncomfortable and this DIY requires strong hands
