Feeling Lost at 23: Need Honest Advice on My Next Step
I’m 23 and looking for some genuine advice on what to do next.
My background:
\-12th Science (2023)
\-Completed a 2-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (2025)
\-9 months of experience as a QC Associate in an EV company in Bangalore
\-Realized engineering isn’t the field I want to pursue long-term
\-Interested in business-related studies and careers
\-Planning to pursue a Bachelor’s in Business abroad for the 2027 intake
\-I have around 6–9 months before applications and want to use that time to upskill myself rather than sit idle. I’m considering options like video editing, digital marketing. but I’m unsure which path would be the most valuable in the long run.
To be honest, this phase of my life has been tough. I’m currently dealing with depression and anxiety, and lately I’ve been struggling with the feeling that everyone I grew up with is moving ahead while I’m still trying to figure things out.
I’m not looking for sympathy I’m looking for direction. I want to use the next 6–9 months to genuinely upskill myself, build a better future, and stop feeling stuck.
If you were in my position, what skills would you focus on learning? I’d really appreciate any honest advice from people who’ve been through a similar phase.
