Season 6, Episode 1 - Sister Ursula [a rant]

I'm rewatching for the 100th time and I firmly believe that Sister Ursula was the reason Sister Mary Cynthia had a full breakdown.

Sister was doing well when the team left for South Africa and by the time they got back, she was severely broken.

Plus, Sister Ursula looked horrified at the idea of delivering a baby at Nonnatus, and I think she would have been shite at delivering a baby in general. I know she worked at a cottage hospital that was shut down, but some Sisters aren't good midwives and I think Sister Ursula caused very bad things to happen. Not to mention she had zero idea how district visits worked and the difference between them and hospital treatments.

Ugh, I'm so angry at that woman.

"Keep On Living Until You Feel Alive Again"

This line is something I repeated to myself the entire time I was recovering from a breakdown, but I also quote it to many people.

I love it so much.

It's currently in use by a very good friend who is fighting her own mental health battle alongside watching her mother succumb to the big C. I'd like to think it's helping.

To everyone out there fighting a battle of their own: You are wanted. You are loved. You are worthy. You are enough.

And one day, you will feel alive again 💚

The Curse Of Being Phyllis's Roommate

Spoilers right up to season 13!

It's always been in my mind how the only two people who shared a room with Phyllis had unhappy endings.

Barbara died

Lucille had a miscarriage, then a breakdown, nearly took her own life, left Poplar, divorced Cyril, and never returned

She loved those young women with all her heart and then lost them both

I don't count Miss Higgins as it was for only a week

Season 2, Episode 1

Re: Kirsten from Sweden

This will absolutely cause a stir of comments and I'm ready for it!

I know it's disgusting that Kirsten's father pimped her out, but part of me adores how the entire ship seemed to care deeply about her

I'm weird, but I viewed it as them all seeing her as their communal wife and that the baby was all of theirs

But I'm a polyamorous person, so this type of "relationship" is something I am tickled by, not grossed out by

But it's not acceptable that Kirsten had been groomed into the life. I guess I try to see the happy side of things so I don't focus on the terrible truth.
