Judy Parfitt nominated for Best Drama Performance at the National Television Awards
Probably a nomination for "body of work" rather than "just this year's work." But none the less deserving for that!

The episode where she was explaining how much she missed making cocktails made me so sad, I've never been a drinker but I've always had really good alternatives to alcohol so I've never felt left out when people drink, obviously they weren't completely devoid of alcohol free options in the 50-60s but I can't imagine not having shloer at Christmas or squash with my lunch and she became sober years before mocktails really got popular so she missed out on cocktails after a shift as well.
Im doing a rewatch while I organize so not 100% paying attention but looking at how little Lucille seems to do if the baby isn't immediately breathing(just wanted to say not picking on her just with the episode I'm watching she isnt the only one guilty of this) vs others who would use the mucus breathing tubes or actually do a hard rub etc. What are your thoughts on everyone's saving techniques?
Edit; I just figured this would be a fun character conversation about the difference in training vs certain situations. Given they all got their certifications in different manors. I guess we can only talk about episodes not characters 🤷♀️ .
Sorry I thought this would be fun given how long the series is and character growth.
Not including xmas specials, because we just asked about those.
Bonus points if it's not a Sister Ursula or Mathew episode.
Double bonus if it's not a death episode!
Mine is the decline of Sister Mary Cynthia
I got roped in by some random instagram posts a few months ago, and now I’ve completed all of the episodes available on Netflix. I’m in the US, if that makes a difference. Ideally, I’d like to not have to pay for them since I feel like I have alllll the streaming services!
Once again excluding xmas specials.
Bonus points for no Mathew side plot, and double bonus points for no death!
Mine is S14 E6 - >!How dare they kill Nigel the cat! Completely unnecessary 😭!< It's the only episode I completely skip, versus skipping only certain parts.
i’m rewatching the show for what is probably the 4th or 5th time. my last watch was when i was pregnant and now my son is 3 months old. definitely think that these episodes are going to hit close to home now after becoming a mom.
i’m not sure that i’ve ever watched a show more times than i have this one. what is it that keeps you rewatching?
How did the husband know immediately that the baby wasn't his? He was home when she was in early pregnancy so why wouldn't he think that she got pregnant then?
Just rewatching the Christmas special where Lucille and Cyril get married. One of the details I love the most about our dear Phyllis is atheist or no, that woman is going to ENJOY the gospel music. She’s gonna sing and clap without reservation. I’m betting it’s because of the churches her mother would take her to in her childhood. I love that she loves it unapologetically. Other favorite part of the episode is when she was describing Barbara’s wedding: “She wore a white satin Alice band, she liked an Alice band.” Yes she did, Phyllis, but she loved you, as do I.
He was practicing law (by all accounts successfully) when Fiona died. He took over his dad's business when dad died but business was never his passion, and he already had a profession. When he made mistakes and got removed from the board and his salary cancelled, why was it that they were forced to live off Trixie's wages? Why was it never even contemplated that Matthew should pick up work as a lawyer to pay the bills and make a dent in the debt?
...in a poor neighborhood they have so many plays, musicals and productions?
I'm always telling my brother this when yet another show goes on in Poplar. Where do they get the money for all these costumes and musical instruments in Poplar?
The special Christmas for Sister Monica Joan alone must have cost a fortune. Was Geoffrey a multi-millionaire?
The Nuns are poor, the people are poor. I know people sew and make things, but it seems excessive for a poor neighborhood.
I'm taking a page from BabyBlue4545 and wondering what special you absolutely can't stand.
Mine is the most recent one - S15. It was predictable and generally boring for me.
>!Timothy's smoking was apalling considering his whole anti-smoking crusade when he was younger.!<
>!Patrick and Fred being abducted was something I knew was going to happen the moment Hong Kong was mentioned.!<
>!Completely unsurprised that Esther continued to suffer.!<
>!Also not surprised that the younger doctor seemed completely useless outside of hospital.!<
So what's your least liked?
Every time I watch the newest serie , half the storylines are new to me since they happened on the Christmas special. Unfortunately for some reason not one streaming website I use have the Christmas specials.
It's not available on Netflix in France
Edit: thanks for all your suggestions and solutions! I ended up getting a free VPN and I registered on iPlayer. My point still stands tho, it is a hassle to get to watch those episodes
My four year old son is obsessed with CTM or as he calls it “Doctor Turner” I’ve watched it since he was a baby to fall asleep, so it became kinda a comfort show for him… but now he’s actually into it. He asks questions, he loves the birth scenes and gets very emotional during certain parts of it. It’s the cutest thing… just seems so odd for a four year old little boy. 😂 we haven’t watched it in a while and he just begged me to “pleaseeeeee let him watch just one Doctor Turner” might have a future obstetrician on my hands… just wondering if he’s really that weird or if there are other little boy and girl CTM fans out there? 😂
I finally just finished season 5 as a first-time viewer, and I didn't know Sister E would pass away the day after returning back! I really hated her at first but definitely came to appreciate the character. Beautiful send off, beautiful episode. I just wish Jenny and Chummy had come back for that episode!
I've only just started season 9 episode 1. Since Sister Hilda and Sister Frances have been introduced, I dont really care about them. Sister Frances seems so useless and they both don't stand out much. Sister Frances is def my least favorite midwife...
I've had CTM playing for 13 years now. It is my comfort show and have it on for at least 6 hours a day. I do not like Shelagh. I find her to be obnoxious.
I've only seen Season 2, 3, 4, 5, and 13's Christmas special. For me, the season 13 one is my favorite so far because that is the episode(s) that drew me into the show. I watched it by fluke with my mom, who is a fan of the show as a whole. I absolutely LOVED the plot with the fellow from India, and Reggie and the down syndrome angels. Before that special I had no interest to ever see the show.
My first exposure was bits and pieces from the episode the gal from Sweden on the boat... with all the men, and I judged it too quickly and thought, "Absolutely NOT." I'd even call the show "Call the Misery" when my mom would tell me about it, lol.. 🙈
But that S13 Christmas changed my entire viewpoint, and I'm in love with the show. So please, share your favorite Christmas specials! And don't worry about spoiling anything big for me, at this point, I've seen clips from many different seasons on YouTube and tiktok.
My friend spotted this in store (12 hours from our home) and I had no idea it was still a thing, let alone in Canada!
My friend is buying some and we can't wait to drink it the next time we watch together - this is her first time watching and we're just starting season nine
Edit: It was found at Independent Grocers, like the same family as no frills, Canadian wholesale and other Loblaws stores!
Did I miss the bit where it's explained? I saw where he messed up his father's company by making bad investments and they said they wouldn't pay him anymore, but how does that translate to garnishing things he already owns, like nonnatus house?
And actually how does one dilapidate a company the size that was implied of aylward estates in one lifetime, let alone in, what, less than 8months?
And, AND, what tf did Trixie mean when she said "so we only have my wages"? isn't he a lawyer? does he know he could.. you know, work?
what on earth is happening? the only explanation for the writers suddenly being willing to look as stupid as they do presenting this plot line is that the actor must've greatly offended one or all of them. Talk about character assassination, my god. He's turned so fake edgy and brooding and nasty on top of it all. What is going onnn
