Human Superstitions

Addressed to: Human Research Division
Subject: Are human superstitions true?

Greetings whomever will get this. My name is Sargent Ja’Kor of the 222nd galactic peacekeeping force. I come to you with a bit of an odd story. As we all know, most superstitions have been proven false. It’s what allowed many of us to be more calm and analyze situations to great efficiency. But, well… what I encountered in my last patrol with my division left me… shaken to put it one way. We were holding a position in a captured enemy position on the planet uria, an abandoned high school that had been modified into a makeshift prison. And the humans of my squad kept insisting there was something wrong with this place. Initially I brushed off their concerns. Why wouldn’t I? There was no such thing as ghosts, I thought to myself. Well, during the night, one of the humans radioed in for assistance. Me and my lieutenant met up with them and the humans explained that they heard screaming. I was about to explain to them that they were just hearing things because of sleep deprivation, when, well, the screaming started again, coming from the first floor shower room. All of us could hear it. It even made the lieutenant jump at its suddenness. After it had stopped, I had the humans hold position while myself and the lieutenant went to do a sweep of the first floor. After making it to the showers, I took the lead, stepped into the shower room, and… nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. In the very far corner there was this tall… figure. Definitely humanoid, but it seemed completely seeped in darkness. The light of our weapon flashlights did nothing to light it up. It eyes to… a piercing red, staring at us, like a feral space wolf eyeing up a meal. The room was unnaturally cold, yet there was this… humid moisture. Like the thing was breathing down at us. I whisper to my lieutenant that we have to leave. He immediately began to back away, evidently aware of the thing I was seeing. After backing out and barring the door behind us, the lieutenant asked what the hell that was. I couldn’t give him a straight answer, I didn’t want to admit that we had come face to face with a demon. But that whole experience… it felt too real to be some delusional hallucination from sleep deprivation. Even stranger things kept happening the longer we stayed there. Equipment would just be missing, many in the squad reported seeing “night terrors” as they were called, 300 kg sandbags were found thrown about even though none of us heard any commotion nor had the strength to do so. When we were finally reassigned, all of us couldn’t wait to get out of there. I wasn’t sure who else I could have shared this story with, so I apologize if this dragged on for you. I hope you can provide some definitive answers soon

For those wondering, an anti villain is the opposite of an anti hero. They may have noble goals, motivations, or methods, but they are still villains at the end of the day.

  1. Rammatra

  2. Amon

  3. The Predator
