Genuinely confused

I’m confused about a rule from PIP and wanted to see if anyone here understands the logic behind it. I’ve already booked my ticket and I know the exact dates I’ll be out of the country (under 13 weeks, but around 4+ weeks), but I’ve been told I still need to call them again on the actual day I leave because they can’t record it in advance.

What I don’t understand is: if they already have my exact travel dates beforehand, why isn’t that enough for them to just note it on my file or journal? Why is a separate call required on the day I travel itself?
I also find this quite stressful as I suffer from OPD and already deal with a lot of anxiety around travelling, especially as I’ve arranged extra assistance and done all my preparation in advance. Adding another requirement to call on the day itself feels unnecessary and quite overwhelming.

Has anyone dealt with this before or knows why the system works this way?

Travelling Abroad

I receive PIP and have a long-term award with a review several years away. I’m planning a temporary trip abroad for around 11 weeks (under 13 weeks) to stay with family and for mental health support/treatment.
I called PIP to report it because I’ll be away for more than 4 weeks. The adviser asked where I’m going and when, then said I should call again on the day I travel. When I asked whether the trip would affect my PIP, they said they couldn’t say either way.
Has anyone reported a temporary absence abroad of 10–12 weeks to PIP? Did it just get noted on your record, or did it trigger any follow-up/review?
Also, if your award involved mobility issues related to psychological distress around journeys, was travelling for family support/treatment ever brought up later?
