800 number for claims status

*So there is no confusion, this is for supplemental claims (can’t see the status on the website)*

After multiple calls (2-3x a week) I am now starting to wonder why this is even offered. I have called 1 day a week but 2-3x on that same day. Why? Because each rep gives different answers and it’s frustrating. 1 says, pending DBQ/opinion. 2nd rep says, we received DBQs on xxxx but the rater hasn’t touched the claim yet to remove from the queue. 3rd rep says, no h these DBQs is for another claim. I don’t know what’s more anxiety driven, that SOME of the reps just throw out answers to get vets off the phone (if so, please find another job) or they honestly thrive off of giving vets anxiety and frustration.
All in all; this is some sh**tshow! Okay, rant over. At this point I might as well call the damn circus and talk to the ****ing clown. 🤡

SSDI steps

Per recommendation from my doctor/therapist. They recommended that I apply for SSDI.

April 28- application was submitted.
May 21 - Step 2, still under review in Salinas, Ca office.

This is my first time navigating this. Based off of the Blue Book Disability for SS, my conditions are listed and top of mental health issues. (Playing a huge role in daily living and functions)

The technicality is this - I am listed as FT in a work from job (customer service in pharmacy benefits management) since my diagnosis, I have requested ADA accommodations ALL that were denied by HR - stating my role and business needs basically is why accommodations were denied. I wasn’t asking them for permanent adjustments, it was only until I could stabilize my situation with ongoing treatments) so since returning from LOA for over 2 months, I have been in and out of work.

I guess my question is this - would that disqualify me for benefits? I plan to resign because mentally and physically I cannot do it which medical records show that.
How are these processes done ?

VERA question

Each time I go on to schedule a VERA appointment (for my location, RENO would be my regional office) it keeps telling me unavailable etc - no available dates or time slots. How can I schedule a call with one? Am I able to use VERA in another state?

Clarification on Claim

I completed a C&P exam for MH increase due to added diagnosis’s by VA provider to my existing rated diagnosis on 4/29/26.

Claim was reviewed and granted by VA - percentage remained the same which is fine.

I am now confused as to this letter I received from Leidos regarding another C&P IMO? Although it’s my regional office requesting this?

I only have 1 supplemental claim for unrelated conditions this. And pending TDIU.

VR&E Program

Met my counselor and went thru the program and how it works. She discussed some programs that could be useful for me based on my disability (PTSD) and my background experience in healthcare. She had me reach out to schools in my area, which I did find one and opted for the Medical Billing & Coding (9mos) then I plan to transition into the Healthcare Administration degree program. VA rep at the campus had sent her an email with all the info and enrollment schedule with an anticipated start date of June 1st.

  1. I currently have a supplemental claim that is in its final stages for physical limitations due to nerve damage in both legs (polyneuropathy) & radiculopathy. Currently on direct nerve injections since oral treatments are no longer working. Do I need to wait for those to thru before I request for accommodations like modified study necessities?
  2. How does this affect me if I am later approved for TDIU? (Pending employment forms)
  3. If later on down the line, school altogether is not feasible due to profession of treatments how will this affect me if I cannot continue in the program and decide to review IL?

For those with children using CHAMPVA. Do you also have other coverage in place for medical? If so, what is the best options that work for you? With insurance being so expensive I’m looking at options to ensure that my kiddos are completely covered and care is delayed due to having to prove medical necessity.
