Orthodontist

Looking for an orthodontist in SLO. Someone who can solve problems and works with patient. Not just rubber stamp orthodontists.

Started taking Fosamax early March 2026 and stopped May 1 2026. So 7 tablets total.
Is this an issue for future dental work such as implants and extractions.
What are the American Dental Association guidelines?

Are there acceptable alternatives?

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 6 months ago. I was prescribed Fosamax. I started the drug in February. So I’ve had 8 weekly tablets.
I was asked about dental work when prescribed but wasn’t planning ing any work.
So 6 months later I decided to look into Invisalign. Second time for Invisalign- first time 6 years ago. The new orthodontist wanted to do everything- remove wisdom teeth, remove bridge, an implant and then Invisalign.
When she found out I was taking Fosamax she said I was not a candidate for any of the above.
No discussion about how long on drug, ( 8 weeks), stopping drug, alternatives.
She just said too many lawsuits from Fosamax.
I’m not a candidate for any treatment- treatment denied.
This was yesterday- still in shock. What makes it hard is that I just went through facial animation surgery for facial paralysis. I finally have the ability to smile properly. Wanted to make my teeth look good when I smile!
I told the dentist about the animation surgery - she then said - if your facial nerve is an issue - another reason for denial.
Are there any dentist out there who solve problems, work things out with patients. Not just NO because I’m afraid of a lawsuit.
Any one relate?
