Hey, so I just finished a game that I rank among my top 3 most fun Civ games. I wanted to try samurai but Hideyoshi kinda killed my mood with his double damage reception when I played him and Sengoku.

So I said why not make a hell of infantry combo. I went Xerxes KoK with Persia, then kept Persia for exploration and synced Samurai from Sengoku.

Xerxes has 3+cs when attacking in non-friendly territory, Persia has +3 cs on infantry and 15 heal for units after destroying enemy (hell of a match for Smaurai since they upgrade by destroying units) and the Shahanshah tradition for Persia gives +3 cs on attacking in enemy territory and extra commander xp and a free promotion fot all Army commanders.

In modern I also kept Persia and synced Sepoy from Mughal for their bombard range attack I already had like 40 infantry and it made my jobe conquering Ibn Batuta's 13 fortified districts in his capital much easier.

Another thing I did was minimizing my use of specialists to avoid their negative happiness impact.

I have to say nothing beats the feeling of just spamming mad Persian Samurai at Hatshepsut's rapid cavalry spamm.

Gotta say made a pretty good game on the religious front and culture as well , Hatshepsut had 9 wonders in her capital and 5 others in her other cities with Devine Inspiration, I got enough missionaries to convert the entire homelands.

It's a very military focused game strategy and you will suck at those culture and science yields but having the map blacked out by Samurai will make up for it.
