Looking for advice / tips and tricks to get refund for $450 travel credit. I saw recently the hack to getting a heap of qantas points for free, when you open this card, pay $450 (which can be used as $450 travel credit), get the points, book a flight, cancel the flight which will be credited back to card as cash and then you use the card for purchase that you want / need then close the card.

So we got this card 4 years ago when getting a mortgage, and not for points as I’m not a collector but it wasn’t made clear that there is a $450 annual fee (which can be used for travel credit), so we went 3 years unknowingly paying this fee and not using the credit. gahhh!! Anyway, when it came to light there was a fee, I transferred to the Amex that doesn’t have a fee and booked a flight for months after. The time came for that flight and I had to cancel it, and got given a “credit hold” as opposed to cash refund on the card (baring in my mind I no longer have the qantas ultimate card). Is there a way I can now book a flight using that credit, cancel the flight and get the refund put on current Amex card? Or anyway i can get this money back and not be forced to use in flights. TIA

nb: the first 3 years of travel credit were not honoured so lost $1350
