Honest review of my new Reverend

Honest review of my new Reverend

Hands

Best

Guitar

Ive

Ever

Owned.

Simple as that. It feels lovely in my hands, plays like butter, is a harmony monster, has a beautiful tone, low action, no uneven frets, nicely rolled, a bad ass bass knob, locking tuners, and the finish is immaculate.

It's really tough to hate this guitar. After years of playing fenders, this guitar taught me that I was compensating a lot during my jams. It feels really effortless to play this thing. after a week of playing my reverend, I decided to go back to my fender, just to see how it would feel, and it feels like a downgrade.

Fender really is banking on that nostalgia factor. The modern design and quality control of reverend beats fender. Its bittersweet for me to say all of this because I played fender for years, but I cant deny reality. Fender has been slipping on quality control and given the recent lawsuit debacle, it was the perfect moment for a reality check.

I just bought my first reverend

I bought a charger clean cut, and im pretty excited for its arrival. I got it on an open box deal. It was $900 at Sweetwater.

Im a long-time time jazzmaster enthusiast, and for the past few years, I've been contemplating buying a new offset from Fender... but with the recent fender news and a little research into their buisness practices towards mom and pop shops, I didn't feel ethically comfortable shelling out $1400 on a fender. They feel kinda dirty now...

So I hit up a couple of small mom and pop joints. I sampled a variety of used guitars like guild, Yamaha, prs, schecter, and most alternative brands that were available. They all felt pretty good, but they didn't wow me. Kinda didnt feel inspired by them.

But then i came across an ad for the reverend charger. I've seen them before, but I've never had the chance to play one. Hell, i drove 100 miles to a nearby city with two guitar centers and a few mom and pop shops just to try and find one, but no luck. Aethstetically, the charger speaks to me, and based on all the reviews and youtube videos, by all accounts, most say it sounds amazing. So when I saw the deal for the clean cut, I kinda did a leap of faith. Im not big on buying a guitar that I didn't put my hands on first, but idk, I dig it. So I hope it works out.

Btw, I used to play a tele before I switched to a jazzmaster, so this charger definitely has that squire paranormal vibe I wished Fender pursued more seriously. So maybe that's why it speaks to me?

Im pretty excited to try out the clean-cut railhammers.

Before it arrives, does anyone have any hardshell guitar case suggestions?

Day jobs

What's your day job, how's the work life quality and what type of music do you play?

I'm asking because im 34 years old, going on 35, and I've been playing music and recording in my bedroom for 20 plus years lol. I play weird artsy rock and I never really had any desire to venture into commercial music. I play and record for my self, wife, and family. When I turned 18, i kinda just figured music or art wasn't gonna make me rich and settled on a C+ life. Aka: Work to eat, eat to play. Im sure alot of you can relate. Not to mention, I dont think being the wealthiest man on earth was ever in the cards that I was dealt.

With that said, I work in construction/structural maintenance. Im like an old school handyman. A jack of all. Its been quite helpful to have these skills. It saves me money! Lol, but as time goes on and I get older, I kinda worry that the heavy lifting, fumes, and injuries will eventually add up and economically kill me. I work for a pretty big company involved in different industries. Im part of their in-house construction and repair crew. Im like a specialized cross trained tech. So i do everything under the sun. Weld, concrete, framing, drywall, mechanical installation/repair, painting, electrical, plumbing, flooring etc. Lots of good skills and experience if youre physically fit.

Maybe i should look into eventually downgrading to a building maintenance gig?

Id try another swing at office work (something i tried in my early 20s), but I kinda like fresh air.
