This is my collection. The Reverend Charger is my favourite.

The oldest is the Gibson Explorer I bought back in 2000. Then from 2004- 2023 I played acoustic almost exclusively... and things have ballooned since getting back into electric.

I've modified most of these guitars to one degree or another to get the "best" possible sound out of each model.

  • Gibson Explorer 76 reissue- swapped out the pots to 500k to get more punch out of the pickups, and added a capacitor bleed at the output jack to drain just a hair of the nasty highs. Rounded the fretboard.
  • Fender Am Pro 2 Strat - hated the Vmod2 pickups after a few years with it. Swapped to Ultra Vintage Noiseless 4 pickups that have way better string to string balance and no 60 cycle hum. Decked the bridge.
  • Epiphone E335 Inspired - no mods
  • Reverend Spy - fretboard rounding, cavity shielding
  • Reverend Charger 290 - swapped to Seymour Duncan Noiseless pickups (Neck noiseless and JJN noiseless bridge), fretboard rounding
  • Reverend Descent 10th Anniversary - fretboard rounding
  • Reverend Mercalli 4 - swapped pots, fretboard rounding

So why is the Charger my favourite of the lineup? (Well, only after the mods). The stock p90s were great but high output and thus ultra noisy. The SD noiseless are identical in tone but zero noise (I've done a before/after test on my profile for the doubters). All reverends have somewhat shit fret ends for their price, but after rounding, the neck is more comfortable than the rest of my lineup. The bass contour is incredibly useful in high gain situations. All in all, it's sturdy as hell, punches like crazy, and is rock solid. It plays like a tele on steroids.

NAMM 2026: Reverend Charger Air 'bucker 'tail

A late NAMM entry from Reverend.

They've essentially revamped their whole line of Charger-, Roundhouse- and Kingbolt models for 2026. New colors, new naming, new pickups ('buckers with both ceramic and alnico magnets). And new semi-hollows, like this Charger Air shown here.

Quote from the website: >"Reverend Guitars is introducing the Air series for 2026, featuring four new semi-hollow models. Each one is built for classic tone, modern playability, and standout looks. The highly resonant semi-hollow design is ideal for those seeking warm, rich cleans, dynamic overdrive tones, and controllable feedback. [...] > >The Reverend Air models feature the new Steelhead Series pickups, which include humbuckers and hum-cancelling P90s with oversized steel poles. Designed by Joe Naylor, these pickups deliver a punchy, dynamic sound. [...] Bold new top colors create a modern yet classic look, and transparent brown backs add a touch of class. Reverend’s signature Shooting Star f-holes adorn the top. New headstock model logos complete the concept. > >Reverend Air models blend modern craftsmanship with classic style, offering the high performance and timeless look that Reverend Guitars is known for."

Is this normal on an expensive guitar?

I got a Reverend Warhawk daw for £950 (waited ages for it to be delivered) and there are parts of it I’m feeling disappointed with for that price point. The paint work is smudged and the nut slot is not level, the nut looks like it been carved to compensate and there also a small bump in the first fret (doesn’t affect playing but its there). I don’t have these issues on my much cheaper instruments so am I just being fussy or is my disappointment reasonable?

Reverend Jetstream in the new Rolling Stones music video

Just watched the music video for the new Rolling Stones track “In the Stars” and a Reverend Jetstream 390 makes a very brief appearance. Pretty cool. A whole bunch of cool guitars are in there but it’s neat to see Reverend represented.

Disclaimer for the rev teardrop hardcases..

Love this double agent and was really excited to have a nice Hardcase for it.. but got nervous as soon as I saw how small it was. At first I was bummed because there was no room to keep the strap on, but its not a big deal to take that off and roll it up. It's 2.5" leather and barely fits.. but I also have a les trem on this guitar which doesn't let the lid close.. I can force it but I don't like doing that.. oh well I guess it's getting returned for a soft case :/ anyways just making this post as a warning to anyone with a les trem.

new gen reverend worth it?

Hi, I’m trying to get as much information as possible before buying my first Reverend guitar.

The place where I live doesn’t have any new-gen Reverends in stock, but the old-gen ones are on sale.

I can get a Double Agent OG for around $700, while the new-gen Charger 290 is around $1,400.

I really love the metallic pickguard and the natural-finished back of the new gen, but I don’t know if it’s worth paying twice the price.

If any of you have experience with both the new and old generations and could share your thoughts, it would be really helpful.
