PJ Fish #1?

I caught this fish off the Reverend site as they were selling off random items at the tail end of their USA manufacturing of guitars. From what I remember it was built for an employee and was (maybe?) the first PJ. Hard to read the serial # but I remember it also said “custom” and as I recall the neck profile was different than the standard fish neck. It’s definitely different than the JJ i also have pictured.

1990 Defender Would I be crazy to not buy this?

I found out about this Defender through an eMail about an estate sale. It has 62K miles on it. Was originally white, repainted green. Garage kept, new windshield, alternator, wiring, starter and voltage regulatory. New tires. It’s a turbo diesel. I know nothing about Defenders, always loved them but I’m a Jeep guy because I can afford them! Anyway they are asking 14,500 which seems like a steal! Talk me out of it!!

OK, it’s been a day since I inquired about this and the dude in charge of the estate sale still has not responded after I asked if I could come and take a look at it so it’s anyone’s guess wether this is a scam or legit. I sent one more eMail just now and f he doesn’t respond I can only assume this was a bullshit estate sale / scam.

My 1965 JM

Back in the late 80’s I answered a newspaper ad for a Gretsch hollow body. When I didn’t buy it and was about to leave the house of the people who placed the ad they were like. “We have another guitar, it was my brother’s, he passed away a few years back and we want to sell it as well”. They pulled a black coffin case out from under a bed, opened it and there was this beautiful Jazzmaster. At the time I had no clue how old or what year the guitar was but I thought it was cool AF so I happily gave them their $275 asking price got in my car and drove away. After testing it out I discovered the front pickup wasn’t working so I took it in to a local shop to have it looked at. The tec there had worked at Fender in the 60’s and when he opened the case he asked “You paid how much for this guitar?” “$275” I answered. He looks up and goes “You stole this guitar.” It was then I realized I made out like a bandit.
